Lemme ask a simple question:

Did MJ and Will even WORK on the tracks together? It seems he could do what Akon and Ne-Yo are doing and try to do it themselves or give it to people related to MJ (siblings). I mean these things happen. We don't know to the extent of their workload especially concerning MJ. It wasn't like he was gonna be the main producer of MJ's new album had MJ stayed alive since MJ was always looking at other options.

Yep...they worked on several tracks TOGETHER....

It's a bit different from Ne-Yo because he never got into the studio with MJ....His songs were written and demoed for Mike with his voice on the tracks....So they still belong to Ne-Yo...

And at the heavy rate of their work together, Will would have most likely been the main producer for MJ's new album...Who do you think made the call to Ne-Yo to start writing songs for the project? It wasn't Mj...It was Will...

Well doesn't that go back to why he's against this in the first place?

Look at who's the main producer of THIS one? lol

Actually, no one is the "main producer"...Rodney is getting a lot of burn because he had a lot of tracks in the can with MJ......Will's quotes has more to do with the label trying to trot out unfinished product ...Not anything else...I know dude can be a self-absorbed ass at times...But Will has legit beef with this one...

Why hasn't he sued yet then? lol Does he really think he don't have any say in getting his tracks OFF the project?

Well like Ne-Yo stated, MJ personally picked 10 of the tracks Ne-Yo penned for him. As far as Will is concerned, I thought he didn't even have the vocals to the records he did with MJ? I remember him saying that he [Will] kept the music and MJ kept the vocals. So they can take MJ's vocals and throw them on a brand new beat.

Well, he's not that big of a asshole...lol....Will's not asking for any tracks back, anyway...He's just speaking more about the estate's greed....That's all...

nod Exactly. MJ did have output. I also think Michael probably rejected some of what Will was offering him so that's why some songs was on Will's album than MJ's.

You are correct....

But in terms of the Will tracks, the vocals and music were split up because Mj wanted it that way...He didn't want any finished songs getting leaked....And you can't just slap vocals onto new tracks like that and have a good project on your hands....lol..It will sound forced, unless you are doing a remix...

That said, I would not be surprised if the Will or Teddy tracks don't even pop up on the new album...

What people may hear is a bunch of Rodney Jerkins tracks from the Invincible sessions...And if that happens, I won't be too excited to hear that...

Right. So I think he's more upset he's not overlooking the project because if MJ's estate had called him to do the album rather than ask Rodney and Teddy and 'em to put their two cents in it he'd be bragging about how this record will preserve MJ's legacy.

I hope we don't get a bunch of Invincible outtakes. Frank DiLeo hinted that we might get more Bad outtakes. Who knows. I love how they're only putting 10 songs instead of maybe 14 or 15. They're gonna milk this shit

Well, I hope the result won´t be similar to the remixes the got released on Thriller 25 or where was it. I have never been into these collaborations with Akon and others. I think my least favourite MJ track is Hold My Hand with Akon, so I hope it doesn´t turn out this way. I hope they will release Mike´s music, songs he wrote by himself. These I love the most.

Has it been confirmed anywhere that Teddy is overseeing/involved with the new album?

I hope so. If anyone can do justice for Michael's first new album (after his passing), it is Teddy.

However, all I have heard to date is that Rodney is the main guy for the album and that the first single will be Lenny Kravitz's "Another Day." Is this all still the case? Anyone know?

As Murph said, no one is really a "main producer", so I doubt Riley will be "overseeing" the project. All Rodney is doing is grabbing outtakes from the Invincible session and polishing them up. out of 10 tracks, most likely 3 of them will be from Invincible. We'll get tracks from Bad and Thriller sessions also. Possibly a track MJ recorded between 2002-2009

I don't think so.....

mixing material from 2009 with material from the 80's will sound like a mess.confused

From what I've been hearing, the album is going to consist of music from the past 10 years (1999-2009) with the possible exception being A Place With No Name (which is from 1998)

and on the topic of the upcoming release of the deluxe edition of Off The Wall, the estate should do it TRUE justice. Instead of just boosting the volume up, go back and actually REMASTER the album from the original masters. That includes the original mixes of Rock With You and Get On The Floor nod

release it like this

Disc 1- ORIGINAL ALBUM REMASTERED)
1. Don't Stop Til You Get Enough
2. Rock With You (ORIGINAL MIX)
3. Workin' Day And Night
4. Get On The Floor (ORIGINAL MIX)
5. Off The Wall
6. Girlfriend
7. She's Out of My Life
8. I Can't Help It
9. It's The Falling In Love
10. Burn This Disco Out

Disc 2- DEMOS, UNRELEASED TRACKS, AND SINGLE EDITS
1. Don't Stop Til You Get Enough (Home Demo)
2. Rock With You (Demo)
3. Workin' Day And Night (Home Demo)
4. Get On The Floor (Demo)
5. Off The Wall (Demo)
6. Girlfriend
7. She's Out Of My Life (Demo)
8. It's The Falling In Love (Demo)
9. Burn This Disco Out (Demo)
10. Sunset Driver
11. You Not Me (Unreleased Song)
12. In The Life Of Chico (Unreleased Song)
13. (Unreleased Song)

14. (Unreleased Song)

15. (Unreleased Song)

16. Rock With You (Single Mix)
17. Get On The Floor (Single Mix)
18. Off The Wall (7' Remix)

19. Don't Stop Til You Get Enough (7' Edit)

Disc 3- INSTRUMENTALS
1. Don't Stop Til You Get Enough (Instrumental)
2. Rock With You (Instrumental)
3. Workin' Day And Night (Instrumental)
4. Get On The Floor (Instrumental)
5. Off The Wall (Instrumental)
6. Girlfriend (Instrumental)
7. She's Out of My Life (Instrumental)
8. I Can't Help It (Instrumental)

Murph should tell us more about this exclusive........

will.I.am decided to share the tracks confused lol

Well, you never know guys....Will.i.am had legit beefs...Some of the tracks he worked with MJ on were unfinished...So he was coming from a perspective of wanting the records to be released with the blessing of MJ...

As for the piece, I'm only going by what Branca says...Of course, things could change....Talk behind the scenes with other producers who worked with MJ during those sessions is happening as we speak...So don't be surprised to see some of the names attached to the album be off the project....Things change rapidly....The only for-sure news we have is a new album will be dropping in November....

Also I don't think the producer has the final say to share or not share. Surely the ownership of the track relies with who wrote it, and then even with whom recorded it. Royalties are one thing, but I doubt the estate would need permission from Will.i.am in order to release those songs. Hopefully he is now involved with some of the production and bringing it to the place it was first intended.

I would rather have 10 cohesive songs as an album than 14 to 15 just to fill out the numbers. Give me a cohesive album of 9 tracks (a la Thriller) over 16 tracks (a la Invincible).

Hit me with a cohesive album that sounds like one project and i'll be happy.
