All the more reason to get to the LONG BEACH FUNK FEST 2 on Sat.
There's an after-party where a tribute to Garry Shider is planned. Guess we just add Catfish to the list. test

No way. He played guitar on 'Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine' as well as numerous Parliament-Funkadelic songs ('Flashlight' anyone?) songs. In my mind that makes him among the great rhythm guitarists on those songs alone.
Along with the passing of Garry Schider, this is making for a bad year for awesome guitarists.

Bootsy always spoke so highly of Catfish. I may have it twisted, but I believe it was Catfish that introduced Bootsy to James Brown. I also believe Catfish was Bootsy's "positive male role model" as he was growing up, as well as Big Brother. So many of my heroes that I just couldn't help but feel were immortal when I was younger, have since left us for broader horizons, not to mention; a slew of friends. It's a long process, but I'm just now beginning to accept that people die. It's like RULE ONE, and yet I have such a hard time accepting it.
May Catfish be resting peacefully, along with so many others. I'll miss those wild eyes and crazy grin; him and Bootsy both are straight from Cartoon Land, lol. Something got into them early, lol. Must have been The Funk!
P-Funk is re-grouping in Heaven, right before my eyes.
