Crossing My Fingers: New Dance & Standards Releases Coming For Donna Summer

There appears to be quite a few typos in this article. Let's hope that some of those typos don't include the new music statements (smile).

would you consider doing an album of standards?

Donna: I actually am, probably in September. I will begin work on a standards album. I will probably do an all-out dance album and a standards album. I'm gonna do both, and we will release them however we're gonna release them. We are not sure which is going first.

I'm not crazy about covers albums but I like the idea of her doing an all-out dance album.

I feel sorry for her, following the trends. Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, and a slew of others have done it, Donna. Dont' be another one in the provolone pile. I wish she'd just do the dance album. Give your fan base what they desire, without having to be that girl that you were 30 years ago. Hell, if Cyndi Lauper can pull off an extraordinary dance record, surely Donna Summer can!

Hmm, for some reason I'm kinda doubting she's gonna put something like a standards album out. She was initially planning to do that for "Crayons" but changed her mind lol maybe she can change her mind again. lol

Can't wait for the dance album though. biggrin

Well, I can't really speak for Donna, but is it possible that, on her own accord, she wants to do a standards album as opposed to a record label insisting she do a standards album because of her age? From what I remember hearing, the label that released Crayons wanted her to do a standards album and she didn't want to. She wanted to do something else. It was what she wanted or no album. That could be possibility, I'd say.

She might surprise you, Timmy:) She is known for having said, (paraphrasing), "Categorize my songs, but don't categorize me because I'm gonna fool you!"
