HI-NRG anyone?

Disco morphed into hi-NRG in the 80s and we got pop/dance music at its very cheesy. By the end of the '80s Stock Aiken Waterman became the hit factory of such music until it eventually ended as nothing more than uninspired covers of '70s disco classics and died... I am sure Europeans will remember those songs much more than the Americans

Interestingly enough, the lyrics to 'I'd Rather Jack' show the song's age:

'Whatever happened to the radio ?
They never play the songs we know.
Golden Oldies, Rolling Stones, we don't want them back.
I'd rather jack, than Fleetwood Mac.
No Heavy Metal, Rock 'n' Roll, music from the past,
I'd rather Jack, to Fleetwood Mac.
Can't they see that every generation, has music for its own identity ?
So why's the DJ on the radio station, always more than twice the age of me ?
Who needs Pink Floyd or Dire Straits, it's not our music that's out of date ?
Demographic stereo, they never play the songs we know.'

Well if the girls still listen to the radio, they wouldn't have to complain... their wish came true, the same 'modern' crap are playing non-stop lol
