Like I said in the above statement... black people feel different about Michael. I personally belive that he was definitely trying to escape his blackness. I have seen no celebrity chistle their nose down to a nub. Sorry, not Janet...Not Beyonce...Nobody. Nor have I seen any black person put a cleft in their chin, and chistle out their jawbone...and do god knows whatelse he did. As I mentioned earlier, my opinion is based on more than just the "skin lightening". The adopted kids with no evidence of any sort of biological ties to Africa....please. Nobody can make me believe differently, just like I'm sure that nobody can change your opinion on the matter.

I heard that Debbie Rowe had a miscarriage before Prince was born.

There's a video on youtube where debbie talks about it.

[Edited 7/11/10 15:05pm]

Maybe she's telling the truth about the miscarriage. I really don't know.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

And like Dag said the last thing I was thinking is that Mike was God. Mike would've told you he fucked up every now and then just not in the way some here think he would. Just because we choose to get pass all that personal drama doesn't mean our heads were in the sand. Matter of fact, we've had discussions about what he "should've done with his life" and it got to the point where I found myself judging him. I stop doing that prior to his death when he was getting ready for the tour. I don't know what trying to go back and forth about the guy's problems is gonna do in some of y'all trying to solve why Michael Jackson became who he became. Plus the more this goes on, the more trolls come in here to interrupt anything. But if you guys wanna turn this thread into a civil war, go on, just don't include me and some other folks in it who were tired of the bullshit long time ago.

Long live MJ. I'm out.

Great post touched Love you timmy hug

it would make sense considering how Prince and Paris came about. You know what I mean.

Maybe Debbie was incapable of having a successful pregnancy with Michael.

I think blanket is his biological kid, and he got some surrogate to deliver the kid.

they tried again and got pregnant with prince. the doctor told them to wait before trying to have more child but a year later paris was born. I don't think they had more kids because of risks sicne debbie was having complications.

Without wanting to play semantics, using words such as "idolize" can distort the meaning you give versus what another gives. As with all musicians there are fans and fanatics - and sometimes in equal measure. I have meant some Prince fans who are just wow out there, and also meet some MJ fans who are equally out there - but that comes with the terrority of being a fan for some.

As a fan I have long admired and been inspired by Michael. I have been a fan for over 30 years, and had moments where I have held my head proud and other times where I have shook my head and wondered "Michael what are you thinking".

At the end of the day, we admire people for their talents and in this world of celebrity we sometimes forget the person behind that talent. Like Michael once stated "it's nice to thought of as a person and not a personality". Sadly many times we forget this. His talent and genius which made him almost superhuman, made the flaws in his judgement and choices seem even more drastic, when alas he was just human - no better no worse than us all.

And for the record I don't anyone here is asking anyone to idolise someone. All we may be asking is that we treat each other with respect and carry that respect to the judgements we place on the people we are discussing.

Swa

And I hear you. timeout No where did I say that ALL of Michael's fans idolize him. But if you are reading the same threads that I have been reading....it is clear that some do. No need for me to call anybody out individually...all of that isn't necessary. If someone doesn't idolize him...then they should know that I'm not referring to them.

As far as passing "judgement" ...people place judgements on celebrities all the time...whether positive or negative. People make "assessments" of people all the time and offer opinions on those assessments, so if that's being judgemental, hey many of us fall into the catagory. With all due respect...I'm not going to alter my discussion of Michael if that's what you were getting at in the sentence that I highlighted. If somebody posts a picture that makes me reflect on something good or bad, I'm going to type it. If people can't get with what I'm typing...then I respect that. But I'm going to say as I please. smile Michael is a global figure, his image is not dependant upon what I type, nor on what his "defenders" assert. Everyone has a mind of their own. batting eyes

If people are that sensitive to anyone saying anything that is not 100% flattering of MJ, then they should start a thread called "MJ....positive dialogue only", that way they have a leg to stand on when they get frustrated because other fans are not always grinning from ear to ear about all things concerining MJ. But as it stands..."fans" comprise people who both adore, and are critical of a particular artist.

Just to clarify - the statement you bolded was directed at everyone on here. I think we should all be able to express a point of view in a respectful way that doesn't go for cheap or personal shots of either the poster or the person we are discussing.

Most opinions if backed up and intelligently put forward are respected, and if disagreed with then discussed in a way that shows respect for a point of view.

As you state, and as the 15 or so previous threads testify to, there has been many critical discussion of Michael and his career. I don't believe anyone on here can say hand on heart that every move he made was the right one. The point of my post was to remember that Michael was human with the same flaws we all deal with - and thus we should remember this when discussing that both in a positive and negative point of view.

I see why Michael made them wear masks. But that also was very unhealthy for them. Unfortunately they will just have to be strong and deal with the B.S. But thus far, I haven't seen any credible pictures that make me think that Blanket is his son. I think this is something that we will never really know for sure. I think the speculation will go on for an eternity.

What about his other work??

It was a starting point as for most people this is their sphere of reference for Michael. You know me, more than happy to discuss the music on every release he did.

To that point I just got my J5 live at the forum delivered today and about to crank that.

But what is everyone else's opinion on the music side of things - what are the essential songs for you?

It's vitiligo - not vitiligro. There have never been any claims that Blanket has vitiligo nor have there been photoshopped images claiming that he had it. I think you're confusing him with Prince. And LaToya was the family member who claimed he did have it. Regarding the photoshopped picture in the water, are you referring to the one where Prince had a white patch on his arm pit? Lastly, when were there photoshopped pictures of Michael?

what do theos photoshopped pics have to do with anyone here? just because some fans do that doesn't mean we all apporve. I don't like the sites dedicated to the children but there is nothing i can do, i don't like that they have their appearence dissected and analyzed by fans, haters and the media but it happenes. Michael kept them protected but eventually they were going to grow up and covering them wouldn't work anymore. I undertsand why michael covered them because of people are always criticising. the media and some fans have transferred their obsession with michael to his kids. i'm just glad they seem to be confident and very well grounded kids, not many kids with a skin disorder would reveal themselves but prince didn't let that stop him from having fun with his family.

As you may know, those recent paparazzi photos of Prince-MJ in the swimming pool are not photoshopped. There's too many random shots, at several different angles, all showing the discoloration on his right arm. Vitiligo or not (since that could be a birthmark), people are reaching, saying those patches are fake, or some type of super water-resistant "suncreen" or "surf foam" that was sticking to his arm pit that day, LOL (YES....I've read that, lol). However, based on what LaToya has said lately, I'm inclined to believe it's vitiligo. neutral

And, like you said, there have never been any photoshopped photos of Blanket with vitiligo, or to make him resemble MJ by altering his face. Those pictures that may appear to be photoshopped are just ones of Blanket naturally looking just like his father, Michael Jackson, 'cause, you know, he looks like his father, Michael Jackson. bored

Well, for you that may be fine and I respect that you want to ignore facets about a hero. Me, I am accustomed to studying my heroes and analyzing them and their lives. They all have flaws, Ali was a womanizer, not always respectful of opponents, and he may have been a cowardly, puppet for the Muslims if certain books are to be believed but he gave plenty to go with all the bad. Elvis did horrible, horrible things to women and may have been a racist. He was definitely not "normal" in his behavior at all times. The list goes on, the megalomania which gets to these men fascinates me because my heroes also have so many decent, fine qualities. In fact, if you want to know the real truth, the only hero of mine's I could say may be a rotten person is Prince and even that's a maybe. Everyone has a yin and yang. And for me, race is an obsession, i've seen too much for it not to be. But I respect and even envy others who feel that they can afford to ignore it and just hope they never get that "wake up call".

Yanno, I have to agree with you here. It's like a funeral, people think that they must ONLY speak good things about the decesased. They can "miss me" with that B.S. All people have great things, and dredful things about them. It just boggles my mind when people want to act like everythng was "ok" with MJ. These are people who only look at one side to a person and ignore everything else that makes the person who they are / were.

The one difference between Prince fans and MJ fans....is at least Prince fans can stand to hear about the imperfections of their idol. MJ fans make themselves oblivious to it. And some of them can become downright mean when you point out MJ's flaws. Almost as if you are pointing out the flaws of their mamas.

While I honor the memory of MJ and value the gift's that he left the world, I don't believe that people should just turn a blind eye and pretend this man was somehow a god. He was a genius in regards to his craft. He was a troubled human being in regards to damned near everything else.

What about the fams? lol

and not all MJ fans make themselves oblivious that Michael had problems. Yeah there are some out there who believe Michael was this perfect individual who didn't have a flaw in his life, but not a majority (yeah I said majority of fans don't believe that)

I and Timmy talked about this some time ago when there was kind of a "war" against fans of Michael back in 2008 and 2009 when almost every thread about MJ became a bashfest towards him and any person who defended him, There's about 4 or 5 branches of MJ fans in regards to how they feel about the man and his work.

The whole "floon" thing came about 2 years ago when an Orger and his buddies would insult MJ fans. I'm not gonna name names but that guy......ugh neutral

The Matthew Rolston 1987 shoot cool one of my favorites too. My other favorite is the Greg Gorman shoot from a year earlier

I'm not interested in insulting any MJ fans, particularly since I consider myself a fan. I'm just not the type of fan to only speak about the good. I also find it amusing when SOME people relentlessly try to defend him from the OPINIONS of other. I mean who in this day actually changes anyone's opinions? People are going to believe what they want and say what they want regardless of who holds a tantrum about it.

I've been pretty much respectful to everybody here even when voicing an oposing opinion. (Except for with one idiot who I consider an antagonist). So I don't know what happened in 08 and 09...but that has nothing to do with any of my postings. I think I've made my position clear regarding MJ so no need for me to repeat it.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?
