Brandy Slapped With $6M Lawsuit

[img:$uid]http://i35.tinypic.com/1076e00.jpg[/img:$uid]

August 2010

R&B singer Brandy isn’t having much luck in the legal department.

Marc Mysterio, a popular Scandinavian DJ, has filed suit against the 31-year-old in Los Angeles County Superior Court for a whopping $6 million after claiming that she failed to follow through on a deal to write and perform “32 bars of music.”

Mysterio claims that he handed over a check for $10,000 to Brandy in June, with the understanding that she would write and record her part of the song. After the singer accepted the money and failed to fulfill her end of the bargain, Mysterio asserts that he lost more than $25,000 from the deal.

Brandy, who most recently starred on the popular VH1 reality show Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business, is no stranger to legal troubles.

The star was involved in a highly publicized car crash in late 2006 that claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman. Brandy was later sued by the woman’s parents, widower and children in separate suits.

Brandy is just so emotionally fragile, I hate to see when these sorts of things keep happening to her. The "universe" is determined to try and put her back into the crazy house. That accident was so horrible and I felt soooooo much sympathy for her. I mean it wasnt like she was texting, on a cell phone, speeding, just a random accident where someone was killed.

Poor Brandy.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Still my favorite Brandy song. Ole girl has talent, and had some damned good writers and producers.

I saw glimpses of that show and it looks like it is NOT good for her at all! It's clear that the mother-son relationship borders on oedipal and poor Brandy gets no support. She obviously does not have her stuff together enough to sustain a career. Let's just hope she can sustain her sanity, though. I wonder if it's a case where she works becuase she has to or wants to. If she doesn't have to, maybe she needs to step back becuase she has enough issues right now.

That's a bit much... . Mother's and Son's are sometimes closer than Mother and Daughter's... I know my mom's and sis can't walk to the corner without being at each other's throat and that's because their so much alike

I know right?

Other than that though, Brandy and Sonia has some major issues they gotta deal with that and that comes from someone who only heard about how they were on the show rather than watch it himself (I don't like celebrity-themed reality shows and reality shows in general lol).

You are so correct in that assessment. My gosh I'm surprised that mom didnt at least "try" to conceal that Ray Jay is her favorite eventhough he's there making tapes of himself and his girlfriend at the time having anal sex. A mother's love...i guess. If Brandy would have done what RayJay has done, she would be murdered in an "honor killing" by her mother.

People who come along with astronomical lawsuit figures for megar losses should have thier case thrown out of court without even being heard.

I just was so wrapped up in feeling sorry that this is yet another thing that Brandy has to deal with given her fragile emotional state in all, that I forgot to comment on how stupid it is for someone who paid 10k for potential 25k earnings to sue for 6 million. His ass should literally be tossed out of the courts and onto the streets.

you know the sad thing is that a person sueing has no say in what they sue for, this is strictly determined by lawyers(bigger crooks) and then the court which gets a huge cut of settlements (biggest crooks) anyone who thinks that someone makes their own claim is smoking, the lawyers probably heard it was Brandy and saw $$$ though, i doubt she even has close to this, i mean her fool brother lost money on the sex tape, shit not even "screech" lost money, fool number one and two.

Hummm, only part of what you say is true. I had a lawsuit where I sued someone before, and although you are correct I did not set my own "price" and say "this is the amount I want to sue for", I was offered catagories that we could try to attain, sort of like "price ranges" for various claims. IN THE END I chose the least amount of money to sue for because it had the highest probabilty of it either being settled out of court (which would get me closer to my amount than if the judge refused to grant me an award period). The Lawyer would have done as I wished as long as I stayed within the legal parameters accepted by "my type" of suit / claim. I also had the ability to fight a settlement and to continue with my suit, I CHOSE to just settle. So yes the person doing the suing DOES HAVE SOME SAY in what amount they actually choose to sue for.

Good lawyers advise you on what you will "likely get" and you try to go a little above that just so that you can come close if you dont get that amount. Stupid lawyers will tell you that the sky is the limit which could lead to the case being thrown out, or he might only get 10,000 bucks. But I'm pretty sure he WILL NOT get 6 mill.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

So had she lived up to the her end of the deal and written and recorded her part of the song, was he still going to sue, when it didn't make any money? I ask because the only way his lawyers are going to get him 6 million is if they can prove that's what he would have made had she done the song and ummm...Brandy, bless her heart...unfortunately, just ain't hot like that right now. confused

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.
