Marvin Gaye Tribute: New Chuckii Booker Production

I was surfing through the 'Net looking for some Marvin Gaye clips and I found this flautist named Darnell White. He did a song dedicated to Marvin Gaye called "Mr. Marvin"

I was was pleasantly surprised not only that the song was amazingly retro and great but it was produced by CHUCKii BOOKER, one of my musical heros.

Another interesting artifact was that I found out that Darnell White is actually Chuckii Booker's Uncle. (real cool) I wikipedia'd Chuckii and found his biography to be incredibly large for being such an underrated talent.

Check out "Mr. Marvin" I think you'll dig the retro flavor.

I love it. It's so nice to hear Chuckii sing again.

Here is another interpretation of the song by Candi Daulfer and has been said to be produced by someone we all know and love.

Now THIS is what I'm talking about. Chuckii blazed this track as I thought it was from back in the 70's for a second. Booker needs to come out with another project. Been a big fan of his since hearing both his CD's. I'm not too sure people know but he's heavily underrated as a musician and producer.

Great post!
Which came first , music or the ear for it?

Something about her horn playing irks me. To me, she's as annoying as Kenny G to my ears. And she dances like a dead swan. Horrid! shake

I think she is allot more talented than Kenny....By a long shot.

I think both versions of Mr. Marvin are complete originals. They just happen to have the same name because they sound NOTHING alike in my honest opinion.

nod

I understand where he's coming from, though. Candy doesn't bother me, but David Sanborn bothers me. It's not that I don't think he's talented, it's his style of playing I'm not a fan of.
