Sixth Grade Boy Covers Lady Gaga's Paparazzi

Sixth Grader Wows Crowd with Lady Gaga Cover

Can a sixth grader do Lady Gaga better than Gaga can?

Greyson Michael Chance stupefied his classmates and stole at least one girl's heart (check out the blonde in the black top, especially during the big finish) when he performed a rousing piano cover of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" at a recent school festival.

According to his YouTube profile, Chance, whose Facebook fan page launched Tuesday, is "very inspired" by Gaga, along with rock band Augustana. (No, he does not name Justin Bieber, despite the haircut).

"Lady Gaga is a freak but she has so much talent and her style of music is what I would like mine to be when [I'm] older," he writes.

I saw this earlier. I think he sounds great....much better than Gaga. And he isn't assisted by auto-tune or pro-tools either. Bieber really better watch out. Does Bieber even play an instrument?

Acoustic guitar and drums. Not that it matters though. lol

Of course, you all realise that this kid added nothing to the non-assisted by autotune or pro tools version that Gaga started performing ages ago, right? Unless you call repeatedly mis-timing the chorus adding something lol

Not to take away from his performance though, which was excellent for an 12 ish year old!

I think Paparazzi is her best written song (out of the singles), which really shows when stripped back to it's roots like this.
Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

Lady Gaga to "Paparazzi" Singer, 12: "Stay Away From Girls"
Us Magazine - 28 minutes ago

Lady Gaga surprises 12-year-old Greyson Chance -- who has gotten more than 2 million YouTube hits with his rendition of "Paparazzi" -- with a phone call on Thursday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"You're so sweet and so talented. I was so excited that you covered 'Paparazzi,'" Gaga, 24, tells the Oklahoma-based sixth grader, who first performed the song for a church talent show. "Everyone loves you so much."

Gaga's advice?

"Just keep following your dreams and work really hard and stay away from girls and be focused," says the singer, who recently admitted she's celibate.

Gaga also tells Chance -- who sports Justin Bieber's hairdo -- not to be "nervous" about singing "Paparazzi" on the talk show Thursday.
"You already won over everyone's heart. Just enjoy yourself," she says. "Just have fun and give a performance of a lifetime."

Greyson calls Gaga his "No. 1 inspiration."

"I love how she's so different," he says. "She takes her individuality and she takes an amazing talent that she has and she makes gets songs that are catchy. They make you want to dance and maybe throw out some Ellen moves that you have."

I love how with every one person in the industry that comes out with criticism and straight up hatred against her, there are a boodrillion kids that do stuff like this and re-create her videos and stuff and are inspired by her.

Me too. It's kind of crazy. It was good, but it screams of slow news day. In general, it gets a bit boring.

Since when is Ellen 'the media' ? She's always had kids on her show doing stuff, whether they're on YouTube or not.
