Wow! What part of the country did he grow up in? I'm 40 years old and I have never heard anyone say that they thought a little boy dressing up like a girl and performing was cute. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Stacy seemed to have a lot of regret regarding her career.. I think she want people to think that she was ok with walking away but i get the feeling that it's not the case

Interesting twist with Johnny Gill. He looked painfully thin though, anyone else notice that? Stacy didn't have a lot of exposure when it came to her "grown-up" songs. On Unsung, they said that she only had one video. That wasn't true. I remember being completely "in love" with one of her songs when I was a teenager. It was called "Every drop of your love" and I remember there was a video for it that showed on one of the BET video shows in the late '80's.

This is a bit off-topic. But for those who choose to comment on how Unsung doesn't seem to give a lot of detail about the artists that are featured. I don't think that it was intended to give a "blow-by-blow" account on what happened in the artists' worlds that led to them "leaving" the industry.
I thought that all of them (the I watched) were very informative. Remember what they are telling us is information either gathered from the source or through those close to the source. Which ever Unsung choses to go with, there will always be "left out" for whatever reason. For instance, I remember watching 106 & Park when BTK first reported breaking-up. Omarion said in his interview that everyone was paid, yet in the interview with J and the other ones, they insisted that they weren't paid. In the case of Stacy and Teena Marie, I believe what they both said, because that is a universial truth about the recording industry. Shalamar eventually fizzled because everyone of the original three all left the group. Also, true of the Clark Sisters Minnie, Phyllis, Donnie, and Sylvester are no longer here in the flesh Norman Whitfield "played" the boys versus girl game with Rose Royce. and Klymaxx, also, had individuals with ego issues which ended up messing them up.

One I did notice is that she is completely charisma free and no stage presence. You can really see that in that clip where she did Dynamite. She also seems bitter. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Having lived during the era in question and having been a Stacy fan in my younger years, I can say that her concerts were great fun back in the day, and it might be unreasonable to judge her overall career as a performer from one random clip. Additionally,if she seems bitter, I actually don't blame her; she was very, very young when she was thrust into r&b stardom, and to date the collective track record for how children were treated in the entertainment biz (before the Big- Brotherish advent of the Internet) was poor to say the least. Had bben a child star prior to the 90's, I'd probably be mad too.

Yeah, for awhile, she said that she couldn't look at the Grammys In some regard the music business ran the poor girl out, she's not the first. I mentioned to scriptgirl I have a collection of records/albums from artist that recorded one, two or three albums/songs. Damn good albums and songs... When I've searched to see why these groups or singers discography is limited, most said they walked away because of the bs. Hell, it takes Bill Withers to talk about why he walked away. ===== [Edited 4/14/10 12:39pm]

He said, he could see it coming like a mack train, he was scared silly and barely survived it. It's more than a notion, it's like one step from selling your soul something.. I do believe Stacy didn't really want to be a singer in the spotlight. She was very shy. It kind of reminds me of when Janet first started recording albums. U can tell she didn't really want to do it either. But the difference is Janet blossomed. Staci got more and more uncomfortable. Staci did have a good run though. To me she shouldn't have any regrets. I don't believe she really walked away. I just feel it was nothing they could do with her anymore. They pimped her and when the music industry changed. Gave her the option to walk away and she did.
She had a very beautiful voice. But in the end it wasn't enough. Either get on the casting couch and sell your soul or walk away with your pride. She seems very happy now so her life is good. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Stacy reminds me of Forrest Gump! She was just floating around and all this great stuff happened to her by accident and she managed to meet and work with some great talent. It was almost drawn to her and she really didn't want or ask for it.
All that shit just fell right into her lap. She was never driven or in control of what she wanted, she just let everyone else make the decisions and she went with it, until she was old enough to say.."no more." Go on Ms. Gump! [Edited 4/14/10 17:15pm]
