Here are some more I hope to catch. The Legend of Teddy Edwards That one aired last night. A very cool snapshot into the '40s-'50s L.A. Jazz scene, his friendship with other sax heavyweights like Charlie Parker & Dexter Gordon along with a number of missed career opportunities during his life. It also chronicled a resurgence in his career during the 80s via collaborations with Tom Waits. Another good segment you should be on the lookout for is... ...Dizzy Gillespie: A Night in Havana Good doc on his association with and promotion of Afro-Cuban music. Music for adventurous listeners tA Tribal Records "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I keep missing everything I want to see and catch repeats of what I've already seen or don't want to see. what a drag.

Thanks for the info. I saw a program on PBS last night about the Jimmy Hendrix Experience, when he opened at Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. I now have more respect for Jimi Hendrix, in my book, as one of the greatest guitar players of his time. His performance at the Monterey Festival that they showed, was so awesome it left me breathless. He played the guitar with his teeth, in back of his head and back, then put it on fire. Jimi was freaking amazing. Jimi left us way too soon.

I've watched other vids of Jimi perform, but didn't realize how much of a meg-mind-blowing-guitar player he was until I saw this on a PBS station last night. I was a child when Jimi was around and wished he was around when I got older, so I could have been around to appreciate him while he was alive. He was so awesome.

I listen to his music, and come away with a new vibration each time. I remember hearing Jimi as a child by way of my older cousin, and seeing (what seem like at the time) this huge poster of Jimi, on my older cousin bedroom wall. [Edited 2/21/10 15:39pm]

I have that Billie Holiday documentary on DVD
It was originally titled... I'm glad they're focusing on Robert O'Meally's analysis instead of the mythical brouhaha they like to run about this woman. If anybody haven't watched this yet, now is the time I'm sure you guys will enjoy it. [Edited 2/21/10 16:05pm]

I believe Friday & early Saturday morning will be the next showings. I was able to watch Sarah Vaughn the other day.
