You don't need them, but the mini-movie playing during the tribute is in 3D.

just to let everyone know Lionel is there to talk about the re-recording of "we are the world" that will happen, hes not playing new songs from his shitty album. Alot of the artists on that list are part of ensemble things going on that night, alot arent performing on their own.

Me too. I am going to take 4 or 6 sets, and have them framed in a square or rectangle. Just because it'll be interesting to hang up.

Nah, I want them as they are, in one piece. But I have like 8 or so, maybe 9. I have room to do stuff. I already have 3 pair of regular blue and red glasses, so I have no plans in pulling the MJ ones apart.

Did everyone get their 3D glasses at Target for the MJ tribute? They come in a 4 piece perforated set. I got two sets. One to use possibly, and one to keep in one piece and frame for posterity. they're just the red/blue glasses. I have 3 pair already. One pair from my Family Guy "Blue Harvest" special edition (the fight scene is in 3D as an extra on the disk), and two pair from the Friday The 13th 3D.

I got them at Target but I won't even be able to see it on TV. I hope it will work on the internet. I have a pair from "Freddy's DVD: The Final Nightmare" (the DVD set that came out like ten years ago and cost a small fortune...now you can buy them individual for much cheaper, probably!). I'm wondering if the "Avatar" glasses will work (or any glasses from a recent 3D movie, with a solid frame in black, not red and blue.

Red/Blue glasses are a different thing than the glasses used in theaters. Only the Red/Blue will work for the broadcast. It should work on the internet, although the quality might suffer a tad. The 3D techniques used in movies, with that gray/black type lens is quite different.

I have Red/Blue from my Friday The 13 3D DVD (2 sets) and 1 from my Family Guy "Blue Harvest" special edition (one scene was done in 3D on that spec. ed. set). I probably won't need to dislodge the ones I got from Target.

Also, after the broadcast, a few days later, check the usual places online and see if someone made an AVI or MP4 of it to download.

Quick note about the MJ tribute:

A segment of a 3-D video produced by Jackson shortly before his death will be shown. It was based on his pro-environment "Earth Song" for use in his "This Is It" tour.

This is probably shot for the backdrop video for the concert. The BluRay of This is It has BDLive content with the full "Thriller" and "Smooth Criminal" video backdrops as well. But it's only BDLive via the BluRay, not on the disk itself, or the regular DVD.

Does anyone know if the MJ tribute will take place at the beginning of the show or at the end? If at the end, how long do the Grammys usually last when aired live?

The show is scheduled for 8 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. It probably won't be at the beginning, or the end, but somewhere in the middle.

Just google up "3D". I found those on Flickr actually, doing the same search on there. It's actually not hard to make your own 3D picture. There are tutorials online. I was going to do one with my 365 project, but just never did it. I still plan to do one.
