wow....Rihanna sounds better than Bono to me on this song right now. Jay amazes me with how quick he can pull a rap together.

It's a new one that premiered tonight called "Stranded". No me gusta.

What happened to Alicia tonight? She kept yelling out "angel" and got terribly "pitchy". sad
Beyonce sounded good but I don't know why she can't find another song besides "Halo" all the time.
Christina looked and sounded good, as did Mary J!!
I loved Sting's song. Both he and Madonna did upbeat songs and I appreciated them!
Jennifer Hudson had me tearing up! She took it to church!!

Sorry but i dont think we should be talking about a show like this being "boring" are u fucking kidding me? Sorry this tragedy cant be more exciting for ya'll, but lets be serious does it really matter if we are entertained?? thats not what this is for.

But in the same respect, they put this together to get people interested. If people are turning it off, there go opportunities for giving.

Personally, I'm not bored. I was a little weepy in the beginning, but I am rather enjoying the effort.

Its a somber event, its that simple, what were people expecting?? Light shows. dance routines, antics etc...this is why something like LIVE AID could never work today, people would be too concerned with "why sing that song" "thats too slow" "why is she wearing that" etc... I think people need to look back on LIVE AID and how that worked, guess in the 80's we were all more concerned about more useful things.

In all fairness, Live Aid came as a result of Band Aid and USA For Africa, and Bob Geldof assembled Band Aid after watching a BBC report on the plight of starving and suffering Ethiopians during their famine, which was ongoing at the time. This Haiti relief telethon, as well as the Indonesian Tsunami telethon and the Hurricane Katrina telethon, was hastily assembled at the last minute right after the natural disaster, and also while the relief effort is still very much ongoing. So the tone of the telethon is going to be very different than what Live Aid was, which came several months after the initial Ethiopian relief efforts. Now maybe during the summer, they could have a Haitian relief concert which could be louder and much more festive, and it could celebrate the survivors of the earthquake and stress the long-term reconstruction of the country.

The so-called famine in Ethiopia was a genocide achieved by the Derg military and the money raised by Live Aid never went to the cause.

falloff

"Haiti don't fade away"
Haiti I can feel your halo"

Me and my friend were just having a cackle over her performance. Because we KNEW she was going to perform "Halo". So predictable.

What if the song was released before 9/11?

"USA I can feel your halo

Not trying to be mean but she did this song as a "tribute" to Obama, Michael Jackson, Haiti...She really should buy more than one "inspirational" song already. On the other hand, if Beyonce or Madonna had worn the "dress" or shirt thingie that Rihanna had on, people would've had a fit!

Knowing MJ, if he were here, he'd donate damn near all of his earnings from the This Is It concert to aid Haiti. I could imagine him not being there, but them playing a performance of Earth Song from This Is It show and him saying "I dedicate this performance to the victims of the Haiti disaster. I love you"
