"This Bed" by Alicia Keys on Rolling Stone Hotlist It says, "Paging Wendy, Lisa, and Sheila: The only way this Eighties-style dance cut could sound more like Prince is if it was wearing suede elevator shoes and assless purple pants."
What do you all think? | |

I totally agree. I started a thread a week or so ago about this song and no one responded to it. This is my favorite song on her new project. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

The beat has lots of potential but I don't like anything about the song itself. The melody is weak, the chorus is weak, it doesn't rise any sort of climax, and Alicia knows good and well she shouldn't be singing in an octave that high. "This Bed" just doesn't come together for me and I can't say I'm a fan.
It's a tie between "That's How Strong My Love Is" and "Love Is My Disease" for my favorite song on the album, though. [Edited 1/7/10 20:17pm]

That's usually my personal indicator. It's happened with other songs on the album. In any case, I'm not going to step on someone else's opinion of the song. I don't hate it that much

I don't hate it that much I have been singing it, it's certainly stuck in my mind. This bed is too lonely without you... ..these king size sheets need more than just a queen inbetween them.. This is one of two songs I like off the album. As I mentioned before, it could definitely use some adlibs or a guitar solo, something to raise it to better than good but it's still catchy and decent. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

The song is really nice but... am I the only one who doesn't see the Prince influences on it? (I do hear the 80s influence though)

It's definitely one of the better songs on the album, but yeah, a guitar solo would have enhanced it further. When I first heard it, I kept waiting for a Prince-like solo to come in, but it ended up being anti-climactic.

Have u noticed that we don't get instrumental solos anymore from these New-Jack-Artists? **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

It's hard to find videos of her really playing the piano. This is probably my favorite piece from her.
