how is that possible when we are weeks away from the 10s even starting?

so they look into their magic crystal ball to a date almost two weeks away and report back to those of us crippled by our lack of ability to see the future and tell us what will be number one in said future?

that is one of the silliest things i have ever heard.

Let me dumb it down for you.

The Hot Dance play chart is based off popularity a song gets in clubs basically by playlists DJs submit at the end of the week. Janet was #3 for the week of Dec. 26th ( http://www.billboard.com/...play-songs ). She's now #1 for the week of Jan. 2nd 2010. Meaning she has had #1's for 4 decades.

i'm not sure the idea needs dumbing down. it's plenty dumb enough already.

bridging a theoretical leap in time between our current time and a year that hsn't even started yet in order to award something as trivial and inane as number one on a sub-category of music via a magazine's next publication date is chockfull of dumb, sprinkled with dumb, fortified with dumb, and has a dumb toy surprise inside.

but here's some good news... doc brown i just took a spin in our time-travelling delorean, and it turns out that in the 20s janet has another number 1, is made queen of illinois in the 30's, and then janet, doc brown and i all get sucked back in time to the old west and she invents pickles.

congrats janet!

woot!

I see you lack comprehension. And we will be ringing in new year next Friday darling. You're acting like we have a whole 12 months left. Billboard didn't just publicize that Janet got a #1 just to say it. She got it. Plain and simple.

If you click on this link - http://www.billboard.com/...play-songs and read up top it says "Week of December 26, 2009

Now click here and read that Janet is #1 for January 2, 2009 week. http://www.billboard.com/...4789.story

This is how the Dance chart works.

But I see why you're mad though batting eyes

mad?

why would i be mad that people fall for such a silly trick to sell magazines and corporate promotion of a singer and her fans desperate enough to celebrate something so ridiculous that it leads them to think they are two weeks ahead of the rest of the world in the time-space continuum.

mad? my goodness, no. i love unintentional humor, and this thread and the links are a wealth of it. people who think they can see and are existing two weeks into the future because they like a pop star is comedy gold.

i'm hardly mad. if anything, i am delighted and gleeful about the comedic brilliance, albeit unintentional, and absurdity of such a thing.

Reading is fundamental.

Tricks? falloff Yes, you're mad.

On Thursday you will see Janet's face next to that #1 and the end off date is Jan. 2nd meaning she has #1's for 4 decades. wink

and on thursday, we'll all still be in 2009 and the 00s, and this thread will still be ridiculously silly.

granted, it won't seem as desperate come thursday, but it'll still be hilariously dumb.

well, those of us bound by physics will still be in 2009 anyway. you and the editors of billboard, having found a way to interrupt and leap freely about time and space, will be working on filing your tax returns, because you'll be already up to april by that point.

lol

i used to think mj had the craziest fans... i guess with him dead, janet inherited that crown.

I don't understand why you're so mad at Janet for collecting those accolades batting eyes

what lack of comprehension?

that people are so desperate for accolades they try to claim we're two weeks ahead of actual time based on a magazine's publication dates?

m'dear, i am a janet fan. i just know a dumb and desperate move to somehow attempt to validate an artist via empty commerce faux awards rather than the artistry itself when i see it.

and unintentional comedy. that i see because i adore it.

and again... think of this thread as a cereal. dumb-o's. made with real dumb, sprinkled with dumb, fortified vith vitamin-d, and with a dumb toy surprise inside.

spoon up, honey.

Why don't you hit up Billboard and explain to them how they have fanatical Janet fans writing on their site that she has #1 hit on the Dance chart

Facts are facts sis

Maybe, if you understood how the chart functions you wouldn't be doubting Janet.

janet has a hit, and i am happy for her in a non-psychotic way.

come thursday the 24th i will be happy for her that she squeeked in another number 1 in 2009.

and when we actually enter the 10's and 2010, if it is still number 1, i will be even happier for her, again not in a psychotic way.

however, this thread is still dumb in it's deperation, crazy fandom, and silly concept that without a decade having even started, some of us are actually trying to hand out awrds for it.

The end off date is January 2, 2010 so she will chart well into the 10's.

As stated above - "The current number-one song on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart (issue date/week ending January 2, 2010) is "Make Me" by Janet"

Snuggles, I don't care what you think of this thread. All the bullshit does is keep my thread on top where it belongs. batting eyes

then continue i shall, pickles.

so, is this mystical vision into future us only two weeks ahead, or can you like jump several yers? is it only relatable to janet, or can you also get us the winning lottery numbers that will come up in a few weeks?
