HELL YEAH! This is the best game show theme show ever. Everytime I hear I have to nod my head a little bit. I'm going to make it my ringtne one of these days. Close runners up are the theme songs to Match Game and Match Game PM, Family Feud and The Price is Right.

That is exactly why I posted the $25,000 theme version ahead of the original. There was always a funk groove built within the track that makes me want to dance as well. cool

Bob Cobert got the funk

I need to bump this thread once again to add something:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Cobert

Robert Cobert (October 26, 1924-) is a composer who has written extensively for television and movies. He is best known for his Emmy-nominated work for the TV mini-series The Winds of War and War and Remembrance. Together, the film score for these two movies constitute the longest film score ever written for a movie. Cobert is also known for his early work as the composer for the cult soap opera Dark Shadows and for composing the score for the 1972 TV movie The Night Stalker, together with The Night Strangler would become the pilots for the cult TV series Kolchak: The Night Stalker.

Aside from his most notable work, Cobert also composed many game show themes with most being associated with shows produced by Goodson-Todman Productions and Bob Stewart Productions. His most notable themes in that genre include the themes for To Tell the Truth (1961-1967 theme), Password (1963-1967 theme), Blockbusters (1980-1982 theme), The $25,000 Pyramid (1982 update), Your Number's Up (1985 theme) and Chain Reaction (1980, 1986-1991 theme, itself a remake of the theme from Supertrain). In addition, Cobert did the music for the NBC soap opera, "The Doctors" for a number of years as well as the short-lived ABC soap opera, "The Young Marrieds." Maestro Cobert is no stranger to compositon of serious concert hall works. He has written several pieces for violist John Peskey including "Concert Piece for Viola and Small Orchestra" (which Peskey commissioned and premiered with the South Dakota Symphony). "Contrasts" for Viola and Cello, "Three Moods for Two Violas" and "Music for Only One Lonely Viola" also for Peskey.

To be honest, I'm surprise Bob never bother to release an album. There is still a market for instrumental music.

Excellent thread!!! Here's my favorite, wish I could find it on CD, lol. I love how the "wah-wah" guitar sounds like a 70's porno, lol. And how the panel, with Brett Somers, Richard Dawson, Nipsey Russell, & Charles Nelson Reilly all stayed HAMMERED through every taping, lol. I've heard many stories about how they "drank" their lunch between taping episodes, lol. Richard Dawson and others even used to smoke during the show, lol. You'd never see those antics in a games show today!

THIS^ is like country/disco/jazz mixed together. A perfect reflection on the (dysfunctional?!?) families that were on the show back in the days.

If some reality TV show counts as game shows, then the theme of Big Brother/Celebrity Big Brother UK is an instant classic.

...particularly Charles Nelson Reilly & his hag Brett Somers, and Richard Dawson. You'll notice it now when you go back and take a look. Sometimes they were even falling-down drunk, but they always played it off as just being silly & mad-capped. The network even encouraged it with essentially an open bar backstage, because part of the popularity of the show was how off-the-cuff they all were, along with all the sexual innuendos. They were all just having a big party, lol. Not sure about your location, but here in NY it still airs daily on cable on the Game Show Network.
