Firstly, I'd like to say that I don't have any problems with Metal. I've never met a genre of music where I didn't like some songs in it. Some Metal I've heard I like. The reason I brought this topic up was because I've noticed with my suburban friends, alot of them love Metal, despite that it isn't danceable and what not; just yesterday I was at my friends smoking and listening to Pantera and born of osirus and some other death metal, and i'm guessing it is another side of the same coin, I'm guessing men like metal the same reason alot of men like rap, because it's testosterone laden in a time of music when acts are becoming more and more effeminate.

Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

From a musicians' point of view, when I was younger and playing guitar, Slayer, early Metallica along with some Ozzy/Priest all got my attention and had me covering them in bands because they were really pissed off.

Anger is an emotion and I felt what they were laying down and played it myself.
As life goes on and you have less to be pissed off about (Metallica's Black Album) it slows down and that's where Sabbath were masters.

Blues when I'm sad, Funk when I'm happy, Metal when I'm angry, Classical when I'm introspective and that's just the beginning.

Slip Knot is the only thing that remotely comes close to how pissed off and angry I was as a youth. Hers's something from the mid-80's, picture yourself in a fist fight with EVERYONE and this is the soundtrack...

Listening to it again now, it is indeed very dancey. hmmm

Yeah, I was laughing because I remember when Rob came out the closet about 10-12 years ago.

I think Metalheads were shocked for about 6 seconds. Then they looked around their rooms and saw posters like this....

Then thought back to those songs like Ram it Down and Turbo Lover.

Then they finally went OOOOOHHHHH!!!!!

After that, nobody cared and nobody would dare challenge Rob's Metal!!!
JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

Yeah it was so funny when he came out but the metal heads understood it. It was a "read between the lines" thing with Rob. It made him more cooler when he did come out. smile

"The Elephant Man" is some scary shit but I can see in a way why they did a video with that. It's actually fitting.

It's a crime to corner King's X in the Metal category.
They're so much more than that.

It's also a crime how ignored they are.

Yeah but sometimes it's even better when you don't, hell I still don't understand Nena's "99 Luftballoons" and I love that version over the "English" one, you know? lol
