No doubt about that! I've seen her live now (my memory fails me at the moment) maybe 8 to 9 times? She always delivers!

From Jill Jones' blog last year -- "One funny thing I have to mention is that sitting next to me and my friends was Sherri Shepherd, I guess from The View. She came to Teena's show with her friend and at one point during the show Teena expressed to the audience that she was very happy that her sister was at the show and asked everyone to "give a round of applause for my sister and singer, Miss Jill Jones". The audience was kind. But Sherri and her friend were like "who's that? Jill who? Who's that bitch?....It's not Jill Scott?" I had to laugh a little because, it was me and I was sitting right beside them. It's kind of good being in the shadows, because you get to see and hear the real stuff going on."

Don't be glib about this. Whoopi doesn't book guests or is even an executive producer. Don't get fooled that Barbara Walters and Bill Geddy are still in firm control of that show, and who gets booked.

However, Whoopi wasn't even in the segment w/ Teena Marie, Sherri Shephard was - she was singing...some song whose name I cannot remember, in the dressing room before the show; they taped it and showed it just before Teena's segment. That's not to say that Whoopi isn't a Teena fan as well.

Teena did a medley of her new song, plus "Lovergirl", "Oh La La", and that song I can't remember. Wasn't a bad segment, I enjoyed it.

"Square Biz" was the name of that song.

Yeah, it was Sherri but your wrong about the booking. Whoopi has, in the past, had quests on that she pushed for. I remember for her birthday last year she asked for a specific performer to appear. With that being said, I'm sure it hardly ever happens but it has...and each time it has, Whoopi makes a point of pointing it out.

That might be, but Teena is promoting a new CD. I'm saying it wasn't Whoopi that stepped in and said "I MUST HAVE TEENA ON THE SHOW!" It was more of Teena's agents getting her on the show (or any other show she'll end up on) to promote the new album).

This came about because people who follow Sherri on Twitter kept requesting it, and last night at BB Kings Teena asked a couple of times was Sherri in the house, never once mentioned Whoopi although she was there.. wink

And wasn't it kinda of painful to watch Sherri have to cut Teena off during their brief interview because they were out of time. sad

Isn't this Teena's first network appearance ever? I just don't buy that the producers are hip enough to even know who Teena is...they seem to go after the "starbucks" artist. If I see Michael Bublee (or whatever his name is) on The View one more time I am going to scream. lol

And Teena's PR people suck, I am not giving them credit for this appearance. This is, what? Her third CD with this label? Or is it second? All I know is she got zero media attention for her latest efforts. The only media blip she seemed to receive was for her god awful award show appearance w/ Rick James.

And what the hell was she wearing today? And how come nobody fixed her hair? I know these things don't matter when you are musically as awesome as Teena but the girl could have worn something that at least complimented her new body...

Oh oh oh, I loved the medley but sadly it proved how lacking her new material is. That new song is horrid.

Not "The View" demographic,,,maybe some of them do, but I bet with my money that the bulk of them probably 1st heard her of in that interview.

Yeah, I was nervous for her cause The View has one of the most boring and ethnically challenged audiences but to my surprise, they dug her.

That's nonsense. "Demographic" is a bullshit word made up by people who think they know something , to label people they don't. Not only middle aged, married, white women watch The View, guarantee you. Don't buy into that demographic bullshit.
