Dead Artists

Who here listens to artists who have passed away more than the living artists? I know this may be a morbid question, but I definitely fall into this category, and not by conscious choice. It just seems that the artists I prefer to listen to are gone. Here are some examples:
Tupac
Jimi Hendrix
MJ (of course)
Janis Joplin
Ray Charles
Kenny Kirtland
among others.....
R.I.P to all the above mentioned.

I listen to MJ very frequently and I believe I will always do so. It does not seem to just have been a phase. Now he's gone some songs seem to have quadrupled in meaning. I also listen sometimes to

Baden Powell
Antonio Carlos Jobim and
Lena Zavaroni (childhood star who died at 35 or so of anerexia) because I had an album of hers as a child.

Yeah I listen to Aaliyah, Selena, TLC together when I'm in the mood for them, it felt weird adding mj to the category, but though I still love him, I find it so hard to look at him now and sitting through his stuff. Of course it took on more meaning for me, but right now I'm taking a break cause I'm still shattered from his death.

I totally relate to your feelings on this. I still am in shock myself. I have to listen to his music, though, for healing.

Honestly probably just INXS and QUEEN at times i well get into a phase of just listening to them over and over, usually album cuts and rare stuff rarely hits. But aside from that, every now and then Marvin and some MJ and Rick James.

Roger Troutman I listen to a whole lot.

James Brown I listen to quite a bit.

MJ will definitely be up there. As mentioned, now that he's passed, a lot of his material I never bothered with I really like quite a bit now. Show You The Way To Go, Smile... lots of songs I like a lot now.

There's a few rap artists and other older R&B acts I listen to a lot now as well.

Superstition ain't the way...
