Van Hunt... is there a career left to speak of?

Such a talented cat... and now it doesn't appear as if ANY label is interested.

I would've thought having Randy Jackson as a manager would've been enough to ensure at least a moderate degree of success...

I know he released some independent shit on his website... I've yet to check it out. It'd be a crying shame if he slipped through the cracks, but it looks as if that's where it's heading...

This fucking industry sucks.

F*ck labels.
They are a dying breed. Why would you think he has no career now?

He chose to go the independent route. The labels wanted to tell him what to do....So he went 100% indie. You should check out the stuff on his website. It's good! He got a new album coming out likely in Feb. 2010. As well a book of short stories he wrote. So he still doing his thing. He's a new age artist. Who doesn't need any labels.

Why do ya'll keep trying to write my man off?
I worked at a major label for 13 years (including the one that Van was signed to) and really realized that sometimes as talented and cool as an artist might be, people are ultimately STUPID.

So for every Van Hunt and Esthero and Nikka Costa and Jonatha Brooke and Ana Diaz (look up the ones you don't know about), you have fucking Rihanna and Lady Gaga and Beyonce and T-Pain.

Major labels can release dope ass shit, it doesn't mean that dumb ass people with no taste in music will BUY IT.

i've said it before in here many times, and i'll say it again. if Prince was starting out today, i don't think he'd make it on a major label. people want auto-tuned shit that sounds like everything else on the radio.
