Elton John: cooler than Prince From Bob Lefsetz, an influential blogger:
No one buys the new music of classic rock acts. Therefore, the performers deliver turgid shows, giving the public what they think it wants. But we don’t want a calcified Stones show, we want something alive, something like old wine that acknowledges we’ve both aged, performer and audience. And we want a keepsake, a memento of the occasion.
If every act was as good as Elton, if every act was live as opposed to being on hard drive, the uptake on concert CDs would be incredible. I’ve heard so many of these instant live productions, they usually don’t work, because the acts just aren’t good enough. In other words, you had to be there. Listening to this Palais show I wish I WAS THERE! He gets it. So why doesn't Prince? © Bart Van Hemelen

----- I don't think this guy has been to a Prince show in over a decade. He appears to have no idea what he is talking about as far as P's live shows within the last 10 years. The shows have actually gotten better and the only way you don't know this is if you have not been at one. | |

I dont get the connection between Prince and elton besides the fact that they have had a massive output of stuff, and both done vegas. Elton is just a cool guy anyway, this guy loves music and he listens to EVERYONE, new old etc...this dude could come here on this board and SCHOOL EVERYONE about music. and he actually goes to the store and buys every new release and listens to them, takes the cds on tour with him, he was the first to ever talk about the Scissor Sisters and Arcade Fire before anyone had heard of either. a-ha "foot of the mountain TOUR 2009" a-ha "Ending on a High Note Final TOUR 2010" going everywhere! | |
