He died early this decade, I believe. He was a drug addict pretty much his entire life, I seem to recall that he had a liver transplant at one point.

I read his bio Papa John a few years back.

He had some pretty sleazy stuff going on. He wrote great songs and gets those super Leon Russell sized publishing checks and blew it on drugs.

While the public is now learning of Mackenzie Phillips' incestuous affair with her father, Mamas and the Papas singer John Phillips, the former child star's half-sister recalls first learning of the shocking news 12 years ago.

In the new issue of Us Weekly, Chynna Phillips remembers getting a call from her famous sibling in 1997 – 11 years after the affair had ended – while she was between flights at New York's LaGuardia Airport.

"She said, 'I don't know why, but I just really felt the need to call you and tell you something that I think you need to know,'" Chynna said. "And she went on to tell me that she had had an incestuous relationship with our dad for about 10 years.

"Somebody could have dropped a piano on my head and I probably wouldn't have felt it," the singer added. "But I knew it was true. I mean, who in their right mind would make such a claim if it wasn't true?"

During the time of the affair, John was married to his third wife, model Genevieve Waïte.

In addition to detailing the affair in her new memoir, "High on Arrival," out Wednesday, Mackenzie, 49, goes on to reveal that it was her father who introduced her to the drug abuse she has battled for decades.

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey airing Wednesday, the actress paints a picture of her father helping her shoot up drugs for the first time.

"I remember going into my room, I was crouched on the floor. ... He put the needle in my arm and put the plunger in and he missed," she says in a promotional video for the Oprah appearance. "He missed the vein and my whole arm went numb."

Chynna added, "After long nights of heroin use, she's claiming that she once woke up and that my father was on top of her having sex with her. Was he actually raping her? I don't know. Do I believe that they had an incestuous relationship and that it went on for 10 years? Yes."

After Mackenzie was fired from her ‘80s sitcom, "One Day at a Time," she and her father entered rehab together. John died in 2001.

Chynna, of the hit 1990s group Wilson Phillips, says that the shocking news of her father and half-sister sent her into "a deep, deep sadness and depression for about 10 days. A part of me died when I found out."

Incest isn't a charge you just throw out there. If you want to be scandalous and get attention, there are other things you can say.

I feel bad for Chyna...who the hell wants that shit in your family? Drugs are bad enough but incest over a 10 year period between your sis and your pop? Murder in a family seems easier to contend with.
