Jamiroquai update (new album and tour in 2010) In an interview broadcast on the playvbz.com website on Monday Aufgust 24,Jamiroquai drummer Derrick McKenzie confirmed that Jamiroquai have signed a deal with Universal Music.
He said that the band have already recorded more than 40 new tracks, most of which have been recorded live in the studio (as opposed to individual tracks layered on top of each other). There are a couple of disco tracks recorded, but we're told to expect a soulful, funky sound with horns, strings, etc. The new album is expected in "the middle of 2010,which will coincide with a tour".

while we are waiting for some new music from Jamiroquai, let's pull out the old albums and JAM! Here's a few jams from the 1999 'Synchronized' CD (the album that turned me into a diehard fan).Post your favorites too!

I haven’t seen Jamiroquai in over 10 years so I would love to catch them on tour again.
Alright is definitely a favorite along with these few and many others: Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

This is great news, thanks for posting. I'm glad to hear they are going back to the soul/funk/live sound. Loved their first 4 cd's, did not really like their last 2.

I just hope that Universal doesn't try to encourage them to change their sound, work with rappers, etc. At Sony, they were given complete freedom to do their thing.

I put this one in my "Hangin' at the Lounge, Pt.1" Thread.... When You Gonna Learn - Cante Hondo Mix And of course, Mr. Moon! Damn, I miss Stuart Zender's Bass! They were never the same after he left.... Mr Moon ... ... " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

I found Travelling Without Moving in a box of old CDs a few months ago. It's great to hear they're working on a new album and it's expected in 2010!
"Everyday" is one of my favorites. Jay Kay is a hell of a songwriter. Also, "Didjital Vibrations" and "Spend a Lifetime" are great. [Edited 9/3/09 7:27am] How can I stand 2 stay where I am? / Poor butterfly who don't understand.

Yeah, they really exercised their creative prerogative to do what they wanted. Come on, talk about churning out the same old empty shit.

Sounds like some good news. Bring on some more disco type tracks. Andy is a four letter word.

That's exactly what we need! Some retro funk/disco jams!! So many other people are riding the shit hop bandwagon, but Jamiroquai makes music the Old School way. They're making music as if we're still in 1978 and I have no problem with that.

I became a fan after Stuart left The first Jamiroquai CD I bought was 'Synchronized' in 1999.Many fans prefer the first three albums, but I tend to favor 'Synchronized','A Funk Odyssey' (their best album, imo) and 'Dynamite'.All of their albums are great, though.

Love Foolosophy Picture of my life. You named three songs from 'A Funk Odyssey',my favorite album by them This is actually my favorite album of this decade.Unlike most of today's R&B,the uptempo tracks on this album are actually uptempo. No midtempo,hip-hop sounding crap here.No guest rappers here.Jamiroquai understands the importance of a good groove. On one of the MJ threads,I mentioned that this is the type of modern-day disco/funk that MJ should have been doing, instead of trying to "modernize" his sound to appeal to today's youth.'A Funk Odyssey' is closer to 'Off The Wall' than MJ's own 'Invincible'. And just when you think the album couldn't get any better,Jay delivers "Picture Of My Life",the most heartbreaking, sincere, honest song he's ever written. It's a masterpiece. ...
