Although I love George, Bootsy, Bernie and co.,No Sly = No P-Funk.
They would all tell you the same. George even to this day says they aren't Sly's peers. He was their hero. It's tough because with P-Funk you have a lot of different flavors and sound options. Sort of a Buffet. With Sly It's all in there all the time. Kinda like the best damn meal you ever ate!

Choosing between Sly and P-Funk will be like choosing a heart or a lung to pick, you have to include them both.

Parliament.

Sly's more of a "play it on sundays" -type of stuff for me. P-Funk makes me want to wear diapers in public and still claim to be sexy on each day of the week, so George and folks it is.

George and Sly were born two years apart (George in '41 and Sly in '43 if I'm correct).
