Mom N Pop Weka Sto Finds in Mpls

I was driving and saw this old lil shack looking mom & pop weka sto in Minneapolis...I stepped in to find some guy just sitting on a busted couch reading a book..half asleep. I said..."hey...um...yeah...haya duwin?" I asked him where the old school r&b was and lo and behold....so many rare records it was rediculous....some of them for only 10.00. I never even seen a real Billie Holliday record in my life. I didnt even GET to the "doo wop black groups" 45 section omg I shall forever keep my secret of the shop but I found some great 80's 12"ers for myself.

Latoya Jackson - My Special Love

With "Fill U Up" and "Camp Katchakai"

Isley Brothers - Grand Slam

Bobby Brown - Girl Next Door 12" Extended version / acapella / bonus beats...
(no pic avail. sad )

TLC - What About Your Friends 12" (witha Jazz remix) omg

Mo Thugs - Thug Devotion 12" single with Acapella nod
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

It's just a plain old white die-cut sleeve where you can read the record center sticker. sad

Thought you'd never ask smile If I'm looking less than thrilled in the following pics, it's not because of the records, just feeling a bit under the weather today.

Please excuse the chest hair as well redface

Junior M.A.F.I.A. - The Get Money Remix 12"
This is the remix based on "Don't Look Any Further" (Dennis Edwards) and a hook sung by Biggie, which was later referenced in 2pac's dis "Hit Em Up" based on the same sample. It has the original version of "Get Money" too (based on Sylvia Striplin's "You Can't Turn Me Away"), but I had that on another single already anyway.

Jay-Z - A Million And One Questions (Extended + Premier Remix) 12"
Same as the intro to his second album with 2 different Premier beats in one song, plus added verses. The Premier Remix has a different "second" beat. Includes instrumentals.

Black Moon - I Got Cha Opin 12"*, Headz Aint Redee 12"+
* based on "Playing Your Game Baby" (Barry White)
+ based on "The Payback" (James Brown)
A couple classics that I needed to get upgraded copies of.

Das Efx - Real Hip Hop 12"
Includes album version produced by DJ Premier, and the Pete Rock remix. Love both versions.

Jay Dee - Vintage LP
Bling47 presented this collection of instrumental-only tracks from Jay Dee (aka J Dilla). I have this and another volume like it on CD, but just found it on vinyl.

Pete Rock - "914" featuring D-Block & "The PJ's" featuring Raekwon & Masta Killa
The first double single from 2008's NY's Finest album (came out the same day as Janet's Discipline). I love that PJ's beat where he flipped "Sandworms" by David Matthews, and "It's Your Rock" by Fantasy Three (better known as the melody to Crash Crew's "On The Radio")

Jocelyn Brown - Somebody Else's Guy 12"
Dancefloor classic I needed an upgraded copy of. It is backed with the dub.

Connie - Funky Little Beat 12"
I couldn't remember if I had this one already, but I've been sorting my records and haven't seen it. "Funky Little Beat" is actually the b-side to "Experience".

Nas - One Love 12"
I had a chance to cop this during a eBay smash a while back but I had a vision of finding this single on my own (so I bought The World Is Yours on eBay that day instead). Well, the day came. Includes acapella, the original produced by Q-Tip, plus two remixes, and all of the instrumentals.

New Order - Substance 2xLP
I have had this on cassette since forever... and the CD... These songs are embedded in my DNA. Never saw it on vinyl before and these were in great condition. Had to cop!

Golden Hour of Disco Soul LP (Golden Hour/Pye)
This compilation has some acts I heard on Finess' mixes (Eastbound Expressway) or mentioned in org posts at least. Anyway, very org related.

Mmm look at those LIPS mm.

Anyway..I wish I had that Get Money 12". Funky Little Beat dancing jig ...'and you still dont know what to do...do.. do. ddo" I always never liked that part...just didnt fit with the music.

I never even knew Jay Z's A Million... was a single. That BEATS. Thats is a rare find my friend! omg

How is that dub of Somebody Elses Guy? Does it have more background vocal mixing?

I dont know the rest too well...but knowing you it must be good. I know New Edition sampled "I Got You Opin" on Hit Me Off, but that's about it nod

wow!!! great finds fellas!!!

@Cinnie - I think I had that Jay-Z joint
the extended mix... it was the bside for
one of the singles.. escapes me
but it had a different break in between
where the beat changes...

he said something like "sound so beautiful don't you agree?"
and I used that beat in one of my online battle/responses
there was this great board I used to frequent
where folks would submit audio & battle each other razz

I won't all that good compared to some of those guys
but it sure was fun wink
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."
