They were massive in the UK mid 80s, i think they flooded the market and burnt out quite quickly, but they were fun. Denise was hot as hell. Probably still is, wherever she is now. "Don't hate the Black, don't hate the White. If you get bitten, just hate the bite."

Do you remember their comic strip in Look In magazine?? I'll need to check with my mate but one of the 5 star girls - I think it was Denise - was on the 'Thriller Live' tour a while back.

Wow really? i had no idea. i was 15 in 1985 so no longer was buying 'Look In' and then only bought it occasionally. but damn, that brought back memories, i remember an Adam Ant one and an MJ one in years before. I was 10, going on 11, but still completely childish so I was definitely still buying it. One day, I am going back to my Mum's place and ransacking it... I am sure I can find some old Look Ins there. What adventures did MJ get up to in his comic strip?? It seemed everybody had a cartoon in Look In - at one point, there was even one for 'That's My Boy'. The best bit was the back page with the questionnaire: 'Star sign?', 'Colour Of Eyes', 'Favourite Food?'. And I lost The Jets' 'Crush On You' free flexi-disc years ago...

What adventures did MJ get up to in his comic strip?? Oh it was his life story, the art was quite good as i recall. i remember a panel of him and his brothers recording the 'Victory' album, it was cheesey as hell (all wearing shades in the studio), also remember when he fell ill on the beach in the mid-seventies and couldn't breathe, i remember being alarmed at that, turned out it was true as well. so it was quite well researched for a 'kids' magazine. 5 Star was one of my favorites in the 80's, and I always thought Doris was just gorgeous
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

I think they had some great singles, their compilation cd is good to hear but their sound never really developed. I like them I am not crazy about them though. As for the J5 connection yes the voice sounds similar and I haven't heard too many J5 stuff to compare but judging by the ones I heard there is no comparison J5 were miles better. Including a TOUR! ARE YOU SERIOUS !!!!! I was jsut listening to them yesterday. I knew it was about time for another thread. Doris I've often wondered if construction of a red lightsaber takes place before you can become a Republican, or is it something you do after initiation. Dah, well...
