80s R&B jam of the day: "I Promise You" by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam (1987)



I bought the 'Spanish Fly' album the week it was released,and this song became an instant favorite.I thought for sure that it would be one of the singles.The song is Prince-inspired,imo.There's a Minneapolis vibe going on here.
