It wasn't a big hit, it did chart at 50 on the pop charts (forget what it was on the black charts, I wanna say top 10.)

It can be considered a "hit" because it charted at number 13 on the Black Singles.

I love this song.

DannyD5050 and I were discussing Jermaine the other day. He was saying what a great album his self-titled Arista cd is. I agreed, but think his Motown albums are far better than most of the Arista stuff. He wasn't that familiar with his Motown catalog other than Let's Get Serious and Daddy's Home.

I then introduced him to this song and he fell in love with it.

I like Jermaine's self titled 1984 album as well...even though it did go platinum, I think it had the ability to sell 3-4 million. Promoted right, "Dynamite", "Come To Me One Way", "Do What You Do" and "Tell Me Im Not Dreaming" all shoulda been top 10 pop.

I think Jermaine's problems is that he couldnt find consistency among his solo material. Some of his albums were solid "Jermaine"(1980), "Let's Get Serious"(1979) and then some of his music went along a hit and miss euro/new wave path. Not to say that it was "bad", just inconsistent

It did well, though. All of the songs you mentioned were really hits.

I agree that Jermaine wasn't consistent. He kept changing up. I did like his last album, You Said a lot. Also, I liked some of the "Don't Take It Personal" album. That album is VERY inconsistent.

The song is nice, so relaxing...

Hell yeah, his Motown stuff was much better than his Arista stuff. "Let's Get Serious" is definately his best album and is great all the way through. None of that crossover pop bullshit. Most of his Arista stuff is horrible.

Yep I agree. Stevie Wonder was gonna record "Let's Get Serious" himself but Berry Gordy wanted him to give it to Jermaine. He needed a hit. And it worked for him.

No offense to Jermaine at all, but that song would've worked for anybody. music

It was popular on my local r&b station when I was little. I felt like he had a nice little string of r&b hits back then. I remember this song being the one I liked for my 4th grade crush at the time smile

It must be out of print. Michael's death is probably having an effect.

That's a great song. When I was 12 Jermaine was the love of my life. lol

I still love his voice and I agree that he should have developed a consistent style, but THIS will always be my favorite Jermaine song even though it's a cover tune...he nailed it so well and he was what, 15 or 16?
