Michael was notorious for being open about his love for his fans and mother earth whereas Prince has always remained an introvert towards these aspects of his life and Prince fans tend to take it very personally.

I think my two favorite MJ songs are "Keep The Faith" and "Just Good Friends". When either of these start playing in the car they really pep me up. "Keep the Faith" is very inspiring to me.

The whole stance against youtube (and all video sites out there) means he's basically killing any chance of future generations being exposed to him and his work, while denying his fans the chance to relive and appreciate his golden moments. He shouldn't have become a huge public singer if he was this ridiculously possessive.

There's also the time he covered Radiohead and still wouldn't let audio of it on youtube, even though it wasn't his song.

Foo Fighters covered Darling Nikki, Prince went off at them...then covered Best of You.

Darren Hayes told of how he covered a Prince song for one of his concerts once that was being filmed for a DVD release. Prince's people made Darren destroy all evidence of the footage.

I mean, where does the destroying all evidence of an iconic career end?

I am not sure whether anyone has thought about this or not in this thread cos I havent really scrolled through it, but, IMO, Michael Jackson will only b remembered as an excellent POP PERFORMER, nothing more, nothing less!! He wont b remembered as a PROLIFIC SONGWRITER AND MUSICIAN like, for example, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, John Lennon, etc.!!!!

He was ONLY a pop performer, he never played any instruments and his songwriting was good, but it never really reached hearts and souls and thought provoking and life altering!!!!

Michael Jackson tops album chart - Number 1 again

Michael Jackson has topped the UK album chart and made six new entries in the singles top 40, six years after his last number one.

Greatest hits album Number Ones rocketed from 121 to the top spot after a surge in sales since the superstar's death on Thursday.

The same album earned Jackson his last number one when first released in 2003.

Four of his other hit albums also made a reappearance in the top 20, the Official Charts Company said.

Thriller, still the biggest-selling album of all time, raced from 179 to number seven, King of Pop reached 14, Off The Wall got to 17 and The Essential Michael Jackson came in at number 20.


Stores have seen a surge in sales of Jackson's albums
A total of 11 Michael Jackson or Jackson Five albums featured in the top 200.

In the singles chart, 43 out of the top 200 singles feature the singer, with Jackson hits accounting for all but one of the new entries in the top 40.

Overall, Michael Jackson accounted for over 300,000 record sales across singles and albums in just two days this week.


R.I.P. Micheal Jackson

I always thought the songs Michael wrote himself were the most touching songs on his records.

Just last weekend I had spent hours on youtube and dailymotion watching old MJ/J5 videos. And I'm not talking that 80's stuff, no sir! I mean the mid-70's; big fro-wearin', nitro-dancin' performances during the transition period, when Mike's voice was changin' and the mainstream wasn't payin' close attention. The shows that made me lie to my mom, sayin' I was sick so I could stay home from school and wouldn't miss it (we didn't have VCRs, much less tivo), but then was amazingly well when she got home and ready to go to the wrecka stow and buy the new album kinda performances… I don’t know who performed better in those days, me or them. Still, I wouldn’t change a thing. I am who I am today because of the inspiration and motivation Michael’s excellence gave me at a formative time in my life. So many stories…

As much as I was not a champion of Mike, damn the guy was a great singer, great performer, even a great songwriter.

I watch this 8 year old kid singing with complete emotional maturity. He was a prodigy. A genius of sorts.

Even when I was no longer a big fan, the dude constructed near perfect pop hits & vocal performances like Man in the Mirror. Even long after his prime, stuff like You Rock My World has that classic mike vocal touch and groove that I can really appreciate.

It's a sad story, but he definitely left a legacy.

This weekend, I spent about $30 getting Off The Wall and Dangerous from iTunes as well as some other single MJ tracks.


A paper message taped to the front door of a music store on June 26, 2009, one day after Michael Jackson died, states that the store is out of all Michael Jackson product

Apparently, MJ is about to rocket to the top of the charts in every free country in death just like he always did in life. Stores cannot keep product on the shelves.

Yeah we're about to see a crazy Billboard list:

Especially with how bad cd's sell nowadays. I think a lot of old schoolers like me who have zero Michael Jackson albums on cd might replenish their collections. I was thinking about getting Off The Wall, personally.

RIP Michael!

I growed up watching MJ grow up. His death reminds me greatly of Elvis P. death when I was a kid. I don't believe there were any fowl methods to his death, I think that Michael J. tried to comeback too hard too soon at 50 yrs old. I also believe stress took him down greatly, though he caused a lot of the stress involved in his life.

Truth is, I don't know of another performer today whose death could have the impact on the world that his has had. He may be last of a kind. As a Prince fan, I would be devistated at if P died, but I doubt the world would stop and notice his death as they have MJ's.

Correct me if wrong, Princess Diana's death had a huge impact, but I don't think it was as large as this.
