Well, Prince aside...
TEDDY RILEY. Also gotta give Peter Gabriel massive credit... He and Prince were the LinnDrum pioneers. I can't remember who did the drum programming 4 Jam & Lewis, but some of that was tight. Herbie's the Man, and also a friend, but I'm usually digging his earlier stuff (Headhunters, etc), where the drums were live, and Herbie was a MAJOR pioneer in several synths/keyboards, like Stevie was in the early-mid '70s. .
