Great picks, Neal. I picked up We insist a couple of years ago, it's an amazing record.

On this show, we'll stick a bit more to the Soul side of the Black Power sound .. I may do a show with music if the civil rights movement - ca. 1962 - 1968 - some other time.

By the way, a nice interview with your Midnight Soulstice hosts in the latest edition of RVA Magazine in Richmond ...

Great, great show. I couldn't get home in time to hear the first half hour but I caught the rest. I enjoyed it. Like Regan's spirit said in The Exorcist, I enjoyed it "Immensely".

LOVE the track by Ike Turner "Thinking Black". I wasn't hip to that one and as Regan's possessed ass in The Exorcist says I enjoyed it "immensely". Hella good pick from The Undisputed Truth as well.

Hi Pari, that's Charles Wright in your banner, right ?

Sometime ago i found info about an early-80's EP recorded by him. I noticed it was being sold at eBay, missed the auction in order to see the artwork or hear any possible samples.
I wonder if you've ever heard or seen it. Here are some details :

Charles Wright / "The Pre Olympic Bargain Pak" (5-song EP) / 1981 / Power (P 6228-10)

1 - "Well, Well,Well (Part 2)"
2 - "I'll Give You Time"
3 - "Girl All Dressed In Blue"
4 - "Let Me Make Love To U"
5 - "Ocean Front Walk"

Thanx 'n advance cool

Yeah, this is Charles Wright, from his Doin' what comes naturally album.

His 1980s material got nothing on his 1970 - 1974 material. You should definitely look into that.

Thanx, i'll check out that 70's catalogue for shure. Still, i hope to find one day that 80's album cuz i'm a sucka for that era lol,
and because there's practically no info available about it, so i guess it's a private label pressed in limited quantity. I love those kinda rarities.

It's been a while since the last edition of our Deep Diggin' series - which doesn't mean that we're not always diggin' deep for you. On tonight's Midnight Soulstice, we welcome you to join Deep Diggin' 3, with Mr. Felty playing some of his hottest Soul and Funk 45s for you. We hope you'll tune in - it's gonna be a great show.

Listen live from 11 pm until 1 am Eastern at www.wrir.org

We apologize for not having posted the link to the download of last week's "Power to the People" show. Our download host Radio4All had technical issues throughout the week, and they are still working on it. The recording from last week is great and we'll post it once the issues are resolved!!

The next Midnight Soulstice, which airs this Friday, August 7th, is kinda a nostalgic show for me. As a native European, my roots as a DJ are in the Acid Jazz movement in London, which was a very powerful force in Europe in the early 1990s. A lot of very popular artists emerged from Acid Jazz, such as Jamiroquai, The Brand New Heavies, Galliano, Omar and more ... but the era of Acid Jazz is also known for many truly terrible and dull musical experiments.

On this week's show, I will focus on the great tracks of the Acid Jazz era - those tracks who will stand the test of time. Most of these tracks are well sought after today and impossible to find in their original formats (i.e., I'll be playing the original demo for Jamiroquai's first single When you gonna learn, recorded in 1991).

If anything, this will be a show with good London Soul, so tune in from 11 pm until 1 am Eastern at www.wrir.org

Some of the tracks you'll likely get to hear ...
