Sam mentions how he and Jackie used to go on these double headlining gigs during the infamous "chitlin' circuit" and how Jackie would always outperformed Sam. Well in the last year and half of his life, when Sam and Jackie revamped their "versus" billings, Jackie had a hard time keeping up with Sam because Sam had began ditching the "coolness" of his previous secular act and had brought back the "gospel", plus he had grown his hair long (as shown in the video above) and his performances were much like what it was when they recorded him at Miami's Harlem Square.
