The Alligator Woman-album had an official cd-release through Japanese import around the early 90's, but surprisingly they re-issued it again on cd in Japan :

Here are some tight cuts from the Style-project :

LA. Connection was my shi...

I love "Jealousy" on that album.

As for Cameo - they are legendary to me. It started with Insane for me - and I always knew I could count on them for a "jam". With age - I appreciate them so much more.

My all-time Cameo:
A Goodbye
Be Yourself
Cameosis
Candy
Flirt
Freaky Dancin'
I Just Want to Be
Insane
I Like It
Keep it Hot
Love You Anyway
Shake Your Pants
She's Strange
Soul Army
Sparkle
We all want the stuff that's found in our wildest dreams.

Speaking of the 'Style' album, the title track sounds just like "Be Yourself" lol Exact same groove. That album is kinda mysterious. It came and went just like that.I never heard too much of it on the radio.

The title track got some airplay as well as their remake of Elvis
Can't help falling in love in my city. Style was a good album but
you had to have a good ear for it. I dug This Life is not for Me, the
bluesy "You're a Winner", Slow Movin, and the wild "Let's not talk slot"
which was my favorite cut on the album. Even though i thought style was
a good album it certainly ranks behind 5 or 6 of their other albums.

I saw that album on a vinyl dig last year but I didn't buy it.I'm curious to hear it though.I never heard all those songs.

Interesting! This album seems to be a continuation of the synth-heavy funk sound (with a New Wave feel) that we heard on 'Alligator Woman'."Let's Not Talk Slot" sounds alot like "Alligator Woman",while "Style" sounds just like "Be Yourself".I like it,though.

When I first heard Ready For The World's "Oh Sheila",it reminded me of "Style".It's got a similiar synth riff.

Yeah, they actually perform both those songs as a mix on "The Tube", a sort of UK Top Of The Pops, but all is really performed live :

That's is a great set they did, though the audience seems reacting a little numb. Later i noticed in the Youtube-comments that at that time (1985)
there was a serious recession going in the UK, like today, and therefore the crowd couldn't get into the show well. Nevertheless Cameo tore roof lol.

Lol ! Yeah i can imagine how that got noticed. The Style-song is indeed a continuation of what they recorded on "Alligator Woman".
I really dig in Style the line : "Some people can learn it from the books, baby you have it or you don't, you get it or you won't"

I posted the track "This Life Is Not For Me" in the Debarge-sticky, because Bobby DeBarge gets mentioned in the lyrics which i partly could translate geek

"...The ? is electric, cuz we really take charge, when we on come on right after Bobby DeBarge..."

And at the time they also hired Bobby as a staff-producer for their back-then fresh new label, Atlanta Artists :

Well any love for the ugly ego album. This album kind of reminded me of
Slave's The Hardness of the world. The albums had no big hits and almost seemed like they were a departure from their other albums but were hella funky anyway.

We gonna come on with the come on, gonna get down with the get down!

Yeah, my fave cut from that project is "Insane", with the funny intro where the band jokes with Larry, lol.
The albumcover which you see in the Youtube-clip is the front of the excellent reissued digipack-cd. Worth to check for the remastered sound imo.

I always thought i heard Debarge in the lyrics. I could always keep up
with the lyrics until they got to this part. And how could i forget
about Aphrodisiac much as i used to play it when i bought the album in
high school.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Aphrodisiac is indeed a monsterjam with a great synth-solo towards the end !

Here the 2 strong ballads from "Alligator Woman" :

For You

http://www.imeem.com/peop...7-for-you/

Through all my phasing times
There was a face to seperate
The heavens from the other place(and)
The feelings all inside, can't express the
Joy you bring so this my love is why
I sing for you, for you,
I sing this song for you (I sing this song, ah ah), for you
For You ooooo

With all that we've been through
No one can say that we have changed
The love we had it still remains (and)
With that you filled my life
(A kiss from me is not enough, ah ah)
A kiss from me is not enough to show you that I'm living just
For you, it's true
I'm living just for you (I'm living just, ah ah), for you
For You ooo

You're the meaning in my life
(For You) For you (All things I would do) I would do
In all the many ways to show my love for you
This is one I thought I'd do (This is one I'd do, ah) Yeah hey

(I'd sing this song for you with me) For you (I'd sing this song for you with me)
I'd sing this song for you baby
(I'd sing this song for you with me, I'd sing this song for you)
For You ooo, For you ooo!

Who will tell the story that's yet to be told
Who will tell the children that they too grow old
When will we learn that nothing's forever
Realising all men must live together

Seekers of truth we must all be
Opening the eyes of those yet to see
Cause if we are to know and love one another
Secrets of time we must discover

How can you stand there and let people do what they do?
When you know that it can't work for us all
Time is short (oohh)
And we must pass

Secrets of time
The world's yours and mine
Secrets of time
The world's yours and mine

Secrets of time...
