She's on medication and being checked by doctors every day...she's also under a conservatorship that deems her unable to provide food and shelter for herself and unable to testify in court...

She's also throwing a world wide tour.
I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

what a life-threatening experience this must've been for the poor child!! lol

I think she was totally flabbergasted cuz of the fact that this guy could've ruined her gig and put her out of synch with the tape..

She needs to get of her high horse and get on tour with Iggy Pop,to name a name(lol),just to teach her a lesson on how to give the fans what they like:live music, real energy and interaction with the audience... wink

You can't always assume that every fan-encounter will be safe. Many times it might be just innocent enthusiasm, but there can just occur that one time that an obsessed fan might have worser intentions. Have you seen that self-filmed footage on Youtube of a Björk-fan who intended to send a dangerous post=parcel to her and eventually shot himself through his head ? ... always be cautious, even Iggy might not give a shit about all that and all power to him, but everyone handles a situation differently. I can clearly understand Britney's reaction after a mental breakdown, and it's indeed maybe too early for her to tour so soon.

true,to a certain extend..fact is,she's a product of the music industry and although she might like to have fans she could never get a 'relationship' with her fans like some (even bigger) artists have..but,her choice. If she goes on this way she'll end up like MJ,high in an Ivory tower looking down on her audience thinking:"I want to be normal like them!"..well,you brought in on yourself dear,I'm sorry, just my opinion..
have another look, btw:is that fan rushing up to her, trying to grab her doing anything threatening??..I see a very relaxed, drunk maybe, fan who meant no harm, nothing more confused

Taking care of your safety has nothing to do with being on a high horse. It's very naive to assume that it always will be safe and harmless to jump a crowd and thinking nothing can happen to you in an unnoticed second.
I've seen Anthony Hamilton once perform, and there was full security backstage. At one point Anthony decided to walk and sing through the crowd, but this colossal bodyguard was constantly on his tail to see that everything went well. They get payed for it.

The fan is relaxed indeed, but still you have to keep in mind that Britney's mental state might not be back to a good health, and that's why she reacts so shocked. Again, it was probably too soon for her to tour.

As for the ivory tower thing. Yeah, you can try to stay down to earth and encounter all your fans close and personal, but suppose one time it might go horribly wrong with an encounter. After that there's far less chance that an artist will act so approachable again. It can f*ck up your mind and trust in people. I think it also differs for every other artist.

I have to say that I agree with both jkj10 and Shango.

Fans can be very unpredictable and this dude could have assaulted her. Mark David Chapman walked right up to John Lennon and shot him in the back 4 times and he was a huge fan of his...John had even signed a book for this guy months prior to being murdered by him. Charles Manson was a huge fan of the Beach Boys and when they rejected him, he went nuts and the rest is history. Sometimes it seems that celebrities really should be more afraid of their fans than their haters.

Personally, I don't believe that this dude could have shot Britney or stabbed her because the majority of venues nowadays have security with those metal detecting wands and sometimes actual metal detectors at the front doors, so it would be pretty hard to sneak anything of that nature into the arena. However, he could have assaulted her with a bottle or his hands, but he looks waay too drunk to have done any major harm to her. She could have just pushed him with her finger and dude would have probably fallen over. He even said that he just wanted to dance with her and in his drunken state he saw his opening and went for it and it freaked her out.

I still think she should have wacked him with that baton instead of just standing there tripping out like that. If someone I didn't know just randomly walked up to me and got that close, dude would get laid the fuck out; and once he's down, I'm hauling ass in the opposite direction as fast as my feet will carry me. I'm not a princess; I'm not going to wait for someone to save me when I can do it myself. Protect yo' self, fool! lol Her security is really to blame for this because they should be on it especially since she's had security around her for the majority of her career...what was going on this night? They must have been on smoke or bathroom breaks when this went down.

In saying that, Britney has been put on a pedestal for soo long that she's got that diva attitude that annoys me no matter who possesses it. However, unlike the majority of female artists given the 'diva' title, she really doesn't have any outstanding talent to deserve being called a diva IMO. Aretha, Mariah, Celine, Whitney; hell, even Christina Aguilera all have outstanding voices to back-up the moniker, but what amazing talent does Britney have to deserve such a big title besides her ability to stay relevant with such mediocre talent for 10 years.

She put herself in an ivory tower and chooses to stay in it. With all the money she has, she can easily disappear tomorrow if she really wanted to, but she doesn't, so she either needs to just accept it and deal with the negative consequences of being famous; or she needs to leave it behind and find something less public to do with herself. Any person who feels that they are the best thing since sliced bread needs to be slapped back into reality, because nobody on earth is that amazing to me unless they can walk on water, multiply food items, or change water to wine...has Ms. Spears done anything close to this lately? Nope, she barely dances anymore and has barely ever sang live, so she should thank her lucky stars that her fans love her as much as they do because if they didn't she would have been gone along time ago. twocents

Okay that had to be staged because he could have really hurt her if he wanted to! No way he should have gotten that close... lol

Her team basically forced her into this tour. Legally, she's still unable to defend herself in court or provide food & shelter for herself yet she can tour the world?

Anyway, just look at her performances, she's still very out of it and should not be on stage.

But money talks so here she is.

She's just standing there, looks away, looks back and there was someone RIGHT IN FRONT of her so she freaked out. Only, given her condition, she freaked out a whole lot more than somebody stable would.

I have friends that have been to her concerts and they said bags weren't searched, no one was patted down, no metal detectors. Since the stage is in the round, it's easier for someone down one end to sneak to the other, which is pretty much what happened here. My friends also said security was minimal and there were plenty of instances where they could've simply jumped on the stage if they wanted to. The fact that he was drunk was even worse because drunks can become violent if confronted.

I still think she should have wacked him with that baton instead of just standing there tripping out like that. Yes, well, you also didn't get carted off to hospital and put on suicide watch at the beginning of last year, either. You're not heavily medicated and you're sitting comfortably in the safety and security of your own home.

She's not a "fool" for letting fear take over, sometimes you can't control it.

In saying that, Britney has been put on a pedestal for soo long that she's got that diva attitude that annoys me no matter who possesses it. There you go again rolleyes

I'd really like to know how Britney acts like a diva because I've never seen that. I see it in those others you mentioned for sure, but Britney? All she does now is cry and read off a script.

I don't know why you keep coming into Britney threads if you think she doesn't deserve any attention. Aren't you giving her the attention you so desperately want her to NOT have by putting your time towards writing posts about her?

She put herself in an ivory tower and chooses to stay in it. With all the money she has, she can easily disappear tomorrow if she really wanted to, but she doesn't, so she either needs to just accept it and deal with the negative consequences of being famous; or she needs to leave it behind and find something less public to do with herself.

She WANTED to do that. She TRIED. That's why she cut her SuperStar team out of her life and went about creating her own little album (that Jive readily banished as soon as they could). She's ALWAYS talking about wanting to tone down her career, go live somewhere quiet and just sing and write slow songs for the rest of her life.

It's her TEAM, addicted to money and big fame, that keep forcing her into these things. And now, with the conservatorship as restricting on her basic rights as it is, she has no way of protesting.

Learn your facts.
