a-Ha "Foot of the Mountain" promotion steps into HIGH gear...very quickly

a-Ha created a huge stir even with their fan base which knew nothing of this new track and its being completed. The recording of the new album which will also be called "Foot of the mountain" has been pretty hush hush for the most part, producers have been rumoured, Mark Saunders being one, specualtion of a "Keyboard" return and a more poppy sound, all have been just rumours, though a-Ha's first single "Foot of the Mountain" and another new song "Riding the Crest" clearly exhibit Magne F and his classic "riffing" ability that NO ONE has. But then tracks like "shadowside" and "Where it is" are proof of the mature writers and amazing song structuring that only they can do from their time period. "They have a cinematic ability that no one has" that was BONO's quote on a-Ha recently when asked about who U2 feel threatened by, "They create images in their lyrics and have the best structures for the classic song" he added. With the new record on some cuts a-Ha has drawn from songs on all 3 solo albums that were done last year by Magne F, Savoy and Morten Harket, the 3 members of a-Ha since its formation in 1982. The first single is a take off on Magne F's "The longest night" with a new chorus and Bridge written by Paul Savoy, where the track "where it is" is based on a Morten Solo track.

On the promotion side, a-Ha are set to play some tv shows in Germany and some one off gigs, also shows are set for Oslo Norway and later this fall for the UK, the album hits the streets June 19th through Universal International and is a-Ha's 10th release.

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
