I just saw the video this morning and it's great and so is the song. I am excited that FINALLY Maxwell is coming out with new music! I am sooooo going to buy this CD the day it comes out and I'm going to try and see him in concert this year. I can't believe it's been 8 years since the last CD. It's good to see Maxwell come back! Him and his fine ass self! drool lol
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Search the music store for Maxwell. It's the first track that comes up for him. I tried to resist buying it to wait for the album, but gave on in.

I like the new song and the video, it's a very tasteful combination and he looks good. There is, however, a growing sentiment of frustration to be sensed from his vocals. Even if the new track is more positive on tone than, say, "You Shouldn't Know These Things About Me"* (well, "Know These Things: You Shouldn't"), he still seems to deliver the lyrics in a sort of frightening way to me. He just sounds so often like he would be breaking down or just coming out of such a period, I don't know. That's his thing though, he seems to express even being in love in a sort of a painful way, almost as if he'd be already it's all going to go belly up soon. That you can also sort of see from the facial expressions he has favoured in his videos since the release of "Now" too.

(*= btw, that's pretty heavy stuff from a R&B musician)

i got it!

Listened to it 4 times already. I cannot wait for this album....it shouldnt have taken so long! But his voice sounds the same exact way..no different. I must admit like a friend of mine's..that video and song made me a little happy in certain places.

Shoot, now I must wait until July! Not that I believe a LIVE performance will be the greatest, but anything, anything to hear his voice LIVE. One I have been waiting for since the first time I heard his voice "Don't Ever Wonder" 1996 and following every album since. True love. No critics by me. No way.

Max live is pretty damn good. He is definitely not a studio artist. I've seen him half a dozen times or so and I think he's first tour with Til the Cops...was his best live show so far.

From Billboard's Chart Beat:

Quote:HOT 'WINGS': Another artist ends a lengthy chart drought, as Maxwell visits the Adult R&B airplay list for the first time in six years. The single "Pretty Wings" takes flight at No. 15, becoming just the sixth title in the chart's 15-year history to launch in the top 15. Here are the songs to begin at such a lofty level:

No. 5, "Your Secret Love," Luther Vandross (1996)
No. 10, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)," Whitney Houston (1995)
No. 13, "So What the Fuss," Stevie Wonder (2005)
No. 13, "I Hate U," Prince (1995)
No. 15, "Pretty Wings," Maxwell (2009)
No. 15, "Body & Soul," Anita Baker, No. 15 (1994)

Maxwell last graced the Adult R&B chart when his 15-week No. 1 "Lifetime" completed a whopping 91-week run on April 19, 2003. Only Kem's "Love Calls" (97 weeks in 2003-04) has spent more time on the tally.

"Pretty Wings" previews Maxwell's first album since 2001, "BLACKsummers'night," due July 7.

Man, I hope not..
• Did you first think Prince was gay? •

Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

I'm no technical expert on music, but a post on his twitter page from April 24th, says that he's "Heading to Master BLACKsummers'night". Nas in the studio a couple of weeks later "murdering" HELP SOMEBODY will then be for a remix, as the album is already finished and mastered. Does this sound logical and right?

It is blowing up on R&B radio. 98.7 Kiss FM (in New York) plays it a lot.
