My favorite Supremes single for obvious reasons (James' bass, Robert White's guitar riffs, Benny Benjamin's drumming, Earl Van Dyke's eerie organ riff and the Supremes themselves).

Though the music of the golden Motown era was heavily formulized I'm in love with Motown.
I don't just listen to the hits, just recently I began to get whole studio albums, from the Marvelettes, Martha and The Vandellas, Supremes, etc.
The ones of Stevie and Marvin are obligatory anyway!

Rick is Motown, but doesn't have that defined "Motown Sound."

Rick is a Motown ARTIST but he wasn't part of the "Motown Sound" (1959-1972) era so he won't be included, sorry.

Thanks so much for that instrumental! "It's a Shame" is my favorite of Stevie's early compositions. It's funny that it only peaked at #14 on the charts, because I doubt I can find 13 songs that entire year that are better. Sheer and utter perfection! music

My second favorite:

You're welcome. Yeah I love that joint. I was surprised myself when I heard it. But yeah that joint was one of the best songs of 1970. And "Tears of a Clown" is the best too. That intro is killer. nod

Ahhhh .... it's time again for the shameless self-promotion act. Please check out my recent radio show special featuring The Other Side of Motown, which features the more rare, unknown Motown tracks. I consider many of these songs Motown's best music - if you like Motown, this show is a must.

Thanks. I heard so many of those rarities. "T Plays It Cool" is my favorite song off the "Trouble Man" soundtrack... matter of fact:
