Madame X

anyone else remember this group. As far as I know they only released one album. I used to groove (still do) this this album...just the type of girl, cherries in the snow, madame x, and marry me are a few of my fvorites. What are your thoughts????

Awesome LP.

The Alisa Randolph solo disc a few years later can sort of be seen as the second Madame X album. I believe the other girls sing background on a few tracks.

One of my favorite late-80s R&B albums. The music is edgy and funky with lots of attitude....sorta like what Vanity 6 might have evolved into,if they had lasted a few more years. My favorite song is the raunchy, sexy "I Want Your Body",released as the second single. This song is outrageous! I like Bernadette Cooper's spoken bits throughout. She's hilarious!

I wish they had done a second album instead. In a 1988 interview,Teena Marie mentioned that she is good friends with Bernadette Cooper, and that she would be contributing a few tracks to the second Madame X album. It seems that a second Madame X album was planned, but got cancelled.Such a shame. It was a cool concept that should have been allowed to go further.

One of the best groups of the late 1980s. If more groups had been a lot more like Madame X and a lot less like Shitney Houston, the late 1980s wouldn't have been so damn dull.

That's too bad. I would have liked to have heard Teena Marie's collaboration with the band.

Madame X was and still is to me a great group they gave attitude and sexyness at the same time and were great singers together.....I also have the Alisa Randolph solo CD as well. Who would have known what they would have accomplished with a 2nd CD I predicted MORE POPULAR then ever.....Flirt!!!!!

Sounded like Vanity 6 Part II. Loved it.

I also loved Madame X. Not sure why the album tanked but I thought they were very original.

They were too funky for most people. That's why the album flopped.

The only thing I can't really stand about the Klymaxxx/Madame X style is the lyrics - they are so plastic 80s that they take away from the songs. If they had talked about anything even a little less superficial, they would have gone through the roof.
