yes
I saw them in person once. Good songwriters and jamming beat - however they never played any instruments - and there was no band when I saw them in person. Must have been just a rhythm machine. But they were really jamming back when they were popular.
Seems like they just dropped off the face of the earth.

I'm a big fan of TFF -- Roland Orzabal, the man behind it all, is truly inspirational. He's an experimentalist, which really keeps it interesting. Even the stuff that doesn't quite work makes you want to hear more. And lyrically he's so ON it. Listen to Elemental -- some of the most straight-to-the-heart material I've ever heard. His new record, Tomcats Screaming Outside, also has some choice cuts, especially a fantastic song called "Kill Love."

TFF is up there with the greats, even if they are "2-hit wonders..."

I loved them too ... I remember playing Songs from the Big Chair non-stop when it first came out. "Shout" and "Everybody wants to rule the world" are very evocative songs and take me right back to the days when I was dating my first boyfriend. The Seeds of Love album was great too - I particularly liked "Woman In Chains".

Has anyone heard any of their later stuff? I only have these two albums.

Woman in Chains is one of the greatest songs ever written IMHO, Oleta's vocals and the sweet groove of one Mr. Phil Collins it don't get any better!!!

I have still got the cassette of The Hurting (their 1st album) in my car. Was listening to it today in fact - classics like Pale Shelter, Mad World, Suffer the Children, Change... I could go on but wont.

Rolan sure is talented but the most recent TFF stuff (when he was on its own) was a little self indulgent I thought. Perhaps if he's back with Curt they may produce some good stuff like the good old days.

By the way - fave track off the Sowing the seeds album? - Badmans Song. Awesome.

If you did not own "Songs from the Big Chair" back in 1985, then you were a LOSER. That was one of the best records of the '80's.

Songs From the Big Chair - My favorite Tears for Fears LP.
I prefer the one re-released a few years ago with the all the B-Sides from the LP.

If anyone is interested, Curt Smith has put all the demos up for his forthcoming solo album on his web site.
