I thought D-Train was a band, till I found "Somethin's On Your Mind" in my dad's album stack and saw that it was just one guy....Did he do anything else after that ?

According to a blurb I read on the "Billboard Top Dance Hits of 1983", it was the guy James Williams along with the producer/keyboardist Hubert Eaves. Wikipedia confirms, but James nickname is D Train (so maybe it's like a Sade situation). A few years ago he was a DJ on Sirius Heart and Soul but sadly when they merged the stations, I think they mostly only kept the XM talent (cheaper?) and D Train got the boot.

I definately got to pick up some D Train for my collection. Love their songs.

Some Hubert-stuff

James & Hubert performed together some shows back in the day.
Wish i could've seen them perform with a complete band, because in a jam like "Music" are tight horns played,
and their powerful NYC-sound as a whole deserved to be performed by a fully armed band.

Great mix ... i just browsed through Youtube and there are so much posting of this jam, lol.

I also like the albumversion, with that brief & fading beat-intro which gets back in the mix after a few seconds.
It's a great opening track for the album. Throws ya right in the middle of a partymood :

I think most of the albums are still available for a good price.
Greatest hits are cool though for added trivia in booklets, unreleased tracks or special mixes.
