This to me, was her best CD since, Control. It all went to SHIT after this CD.

U didn't like Velvet Rope? It is her most creative project and still sounds great today.

I feel like I heard the whole album after listening to those interludes though... my brain fills in the rest.

I fammed out on this album hard from the summer of 1993 to the next summer!

Nope! To me, that Velet Rope, sounds dated. You can still rock "Janet".

I LOVE "janet", but VR (after recently listening to it) sounds just as current today as it did in 97 (with a couple of exceptions). "Janet" sounds dated in compairson. Especially with the engineering on tracks like You Want This and New Agenda.

Does anyone know if Janet has any demos that leaked? We've heard a lot of Mikes but has anyone heard a Janet demo?

The fact that she added interludes on every album thereafter took away the specialness of doing it for the janet album. Something that was neat and different became redundant and annoying.

Especially when they become juvenile like they did on Discipline.

To me they were the best ones...Morning, Rain, Are You Still Up... it helped set the mood. On later albums I think they're a little intrusive or break the flow.

Was there already a thread of favorite Janet interludes? Other memorable ones are You are Blanche, you are and mmm my lips hurt lol

I totally agree with u. I loved "Are you still up". I used that on a few mixed cds.

this is the last time the interludes really worked for me, and probably when they worked best. they were extensions of the songs rather than just random, contrived screwing around in the studio or ham-fisted monologues.

I bought "20 YO" on vinyl for five bucks last year at a closing down sale that a DJ/record store was having.

Needless to say, I still haven't been able to bring myself to listen to the album from beginning to end.

I don't know what it is...shrug but somethin about the album puts me right off.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Aside from a few tracks, it's just plain terrible and not worth your time.

I like every moment of this album, including the interludes.. most of them are just short lines said at the beginning of the song. Velvet Rope has entire skits that I just don't find necessary.

To me, it comes across as a singer trying to be "hip" and "cool" and it didn't work for her. That happens to a lot of artists. I think that is why so many people don't care for Prince's 90s work. He was still trying to be relevant in the early 90s.

They do to me. I love to have interludes from TGE, Janet, and a few other cds mixed into my ipod.
