There are some really good ones. Some are ok, and some are just horrid. Some of the best are (to me): Until You Come Back To Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do) - Aretha Franklin Creepin' - Luther Vandross A House Is Not A Home - Luther Vandross I Can't Make You Love Me - George Michael Smile - Michael Jackson Who's Loving You - J5 Slow Hand - Conway Twitty **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Both suck, but Madonna miraculously found a way to make it suck more. That's the worst thing she's ever done. Robert Palmer - I Didn't Mean To Turn You On (Cherrelle remake)
Love this one! One of my favorite Palmer covers... I find a lot of humor in hearing this song from a man.

-That's pretty much my fave Prince song of all time and they didn't do it justice imo. I feel if you're going to cover a song, at least try to do something new with it or try to improve it in some way. I totally agree. I have never been a big fan of this song, but to Mariah and Dru Hill murder it is uncalled for. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Mariah Carey - The Beautiful Ones (Prince remake) Mariah Carey - Bringing On The Heartbreak (Def Leppard remake) Jessica Simpson - Take My Breath Away (Berlin remake) Michael Bolton - Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay (Otis Redding remake) Robert Palmer - I Didn't Mean To Turn You On (Cherrelle remake) Britney Spears - My Prerogative (Bobby Brown remake) I couldn't stand Britney's version of "My Prerogative" As a matter of fact, I can't see anyone doing a good remake of this song. This was clearly meant for Bobby to sing, IMHO.

I can live without almost all the remakes, except Halleluja by Jeff Buckley. Almost as good as the original by Leonard Cohen.

Right and Wrong Way - Mario (Keith Sweat remake) Cruisin' - Huey Lewis and Gwennith Paltrow (Smokey remake) Come Together - MJ (Beatles Remake) Jesus Is Love - Heather Headley and Snokie Norfull (Commodores Remake) Lady - Lionel Richie (Kenny Rogers Remake) Rappers Delight - Eric Sermon (Sugarhill Gang Remake) All of these aren't necessarily bad, but I could have lived without them. [Edited 2/16/09 6:50am] I kinda liked MJ's version of Come Together, but it was pretty unnecessary. We are stardust. We are golden.

Someone -I think it was Michael Bolton -did a really shit cover of When A Man Loves A Woman. It makes my ears bleed. We are stardust. We are golden.

- Yes, modern remakes keep getting worse and worse; I think some cats should just leave a classic as it is Sankofa (one who must return to the past in order to move forward)

I remember hearing a radio Prince interview where he said he didn't mind Mariah singing the song, its the fact that Dru Hill sang with her was the problem.

Mostly all remakes from the 1990s on up. Well hell, the same goes for mostly all mainstream music from the 1990s on up and a lot of the late 1980s. Andy has spoken dammitt.
