Hip Hop In Stadiums

FOr what I understand there has been some Hip Hop in stadiums. WHat artists? Currently very few can pack arenas. I know Dre was trying a stadium thing once but I don't recal it going off. P.Diddy supposedly did one in the late 89s. Nelly and a few artists did one here in Houston but they used half of Reliant Stadium.

SO have there ever been any confirmed Hip Hop stadium concerts and do you think there'll be anymore?

Man we're in a recession. A lot of hiphop artists can barely sell records because of that and lack of actual quality in their product...packing out arenas like that will be even harder if you arent an established name like a Jay-Z/Kanye or you just have people all on your jock like Lil Wayne...they shoulda did another KoldKrush or a Hard Knock life.Just an all-star roster

Kanye has done stadiums. How many albums has he sold? I'm looking for superstars. I the 80s we had for superstars Michael,Madonna,Prince, Janet. ALl have sold 100 million units to date.

Rythm Nation which is Janet's highest has sold about 12 million. That's about the very lowest you can do a be considered a superstar. Most artists Beyonce,CHristina, Rhianna haven't broke the 6 million mark on any of their albums.

As for solo artists, the only one i know of today who has sold more than 10 million on an album is Usher. Confessions has sold nearly 20 million as of this point. Definetly hot but nowhere near the 100 million Michael's Thriller has sold so far. Thriller reached 60 million in it's first few years.
.
While R&B is hot over the world Rap is USA's biggest seller in the urban market.
Rap as a whole doesn't seem to be selling half as much as R&B/Soul did back in it's hayday of The 60s-80s WHo is the beiggest seller right now in black music?
I Know Jay-Z and Kanye are the biggest names in Hip Hop but have they topped Usher or even Beyonce? Wikipeda says Jay-z has sold 50 million albums so far. That's not so hard considering he's had alot of albums and isn't a few years into stardom like Kanye,50, or T.I. But have any rap artists ever broke 10 million on any single album?

I'm trying to think of ANY hip-hop show in a stadium, ever, that wasn't a "Summer Jamz" type show for a radio station with a dozen well-known acts on the bill. I can't think of any, and I live in Los Angeles.

No we don't have superstars like we used to. I don't think that's such a bad thing, not everybody can be into the same stuff. I certainly don't enjoy GOING to stadium shows.

Anyway not that many hip-hop acts are even arena headliners without some kind of festival deal.
