re: ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio is allowing free admission to everyone on Monday, January 19, 2009 in honor of MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY.
The incredible structure near downtown Cleveland is a must for music fans.
Some people mistakenly think when they hear the name 'rock and roll' that is refers to a genre of music - in this case it is euphemism for a culture, genre, mood and lifestyle that encompasses all contemporary artforms of music: rock, blues, soul, jazz, gospel, country, etc. The indductees have been as diverse as:
James Brown, Johnny Cash, Grandmaster Flash and The Furious 5, The Beatles, Cream, Prince, Aretha Franklin, B.B. KIng, Led Zeppelin and many more.
Speaking of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the class of 2009 has had a leak - rockabilly queen , Wanda Jackson, who cut her teeth singing with Elvis Presley, was interviewed by a Tulsa, Oklahoma newspaper yesterday and satted that she was informed she is in. Announcements are expected on Monday, January 12th as to the five finalist of the nine nominees: Chic, The Stooges, Metallica, the afore-mentioned Jackson,Run DMC, Jeff Beck, War, Little Anthony and The Imperials and Bobby Womack. Many critic polls did not have Miss Jackson in the top 5, so there may be other surproses. For the first time ever in its history, the Hall will hold inductions for the public to be in the audience. On April 4th at Public Hall in Cleveland, will be the induction. Tiokets are expected to go on sale in about a week.

Museum is also offering free admission on MLK Jr. Day
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is opening a new photography exhibit this month, to honor Black History Month and the African-American influence on rock and roll. The Sepia Magazine Photo Archive - 1848-1983: 35 Years of the African-American Experience in Music will open January 19, 2009 at the museums Ahmet M. Ertegun Main Exhibit Hall's Circular Gallery. The exhibit opens on Martin Luther King, Jr. day, a free admission day at the museum.

The Sepia photography exhibit includes more than 40 images that were originally featured in the magazine during its 35 year span of publication. Some of these images have not been seen since their original printing, and include African-American musical figures that shaped black culture and the world. The exhibit will run through April 12, 2009.

Photos included in the exhibit include several Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees: James Brown, Ruth Brown, Ray Charles, Mahalia Jackson, Bob Marley, and Jackie Wilson. Other influential artists including The Sugarhill Gang, Dizzy Gillspie, Erroll Garner, and others are also included.
