a Christmas gift to graecophilos (a list of Hard Candy outtakes)

found this on another forum...

HARD CANDY OUTTAKES

***"Dark Coffee (La La)"---"This song is off the hook,"Timbaland said."Remember "Ugly" by Bubba Sparxxx? It's got a beat similiar to that. The hook is no words. It's saying stuff named after coffee--all these different names for coffee--is the hook".

***"Across The Sky"---a nice, midtempo love song with classic Madonna lyrics and a theme concept that loosely reminds of the idea behind the song "Like A Virgin".The song tells the story of a woman who is quite disenchanted by love,a woman who knows deception,a woman who lied and has been lied to quite alot in her life...a woman who admits she is not a saint but finally feels like a new person now that she has found a new love in her life, and she is ready to travel "across the sky" with her man, poetically holding his hands in hers.Musically, the song contains alot of acosutic guitars and a very catchy chorus.Justin can be heard "oohing" on background vocals.Apparently the song would be a perfect third single.Produced by Timbaland, and now set to appear on his own upcoming CD.

***"Silly Girl"---one of the early Madonna/Pharrell productions. The song includes lots of talking back between both and the words "silly girl" is repeated in the chorus.Parts of this song were used on "Beat Goes On".

***"Candy Shop"---alternate versions of this song are known to exist.

***"The Beat Goes On"---alternate version that leaked in 2007.

***"Level With Me"---a Pharrell Williams collaboration.

***"Miles"--an early version of "Miles Away" exists, simply called "Miles",where Madonna sings in alot of different harmonies and layers, kinda like "Intervention" or "X-Static Process" from American Life.

hmmm

yep, I thought about that as well. Not even further song titles are known (btw, we may not have to take that TEN songs talk too serious. He has such a big mouth, they probably only did 8 songs...)

But on the other Hand SoulAlive, Pharrell's tracks leak all the time, so maybe we'll get Silly Girl and Level On me sooner or later...

btw, I totally believe this list. It's typical for a Madonna song to have so many different states. Just think how Get Together and Hey You have the same source.
And it makes totally sense that there was Beat Goes On and Silly Girl and then they mixed the two songs and they had the album version...
