The album had to grow on me. At first listen, I was disappointed. I thought it was bland and boring and so NOT what I was expecting after Afrodisiac and all the unreleased tracks that leaked this year and last year.

However, I'm really appreciating the subtlety of Human, now. It's just a breath of fresh air in a world of over-produced, over-singing stage robots.

On another note, I'm glad she left the background dancers in the Afrodisiac era. That just isn't her thing.

She had dancers when she first started. She got rid of them?

See for yourself. I have not seen a performance this era with any background dancers. She didn't even have them in her video.

Even when she had background dancers prior to Afrodisiac she left the dancing to them (for the most part). During Afrodisiac she had the head-mic along with the lip-synching like she was Britney or Janet, which she isn't.

I like the "new" mature direction this album has. I even like her duet on John Legend's album.

I think she's trying to fit in with the older crowd that listens to the neo soul artists but doesn't want to completely change her musical style. Plus this takes her out of the way of the BEYONCE lane that everyone else is trying to get into to. Smart move. Let Ciara and Rihanna chase Beyonce and concentrate on singing live (every chance you get, heck i expect to see her around the corner singing in front of the Wig Crypt giving out free samples of Pink oil moisturizer with Ashanti giving out coupons).

I loved the mini concert, hate i missed it but Brandy has matured so much and i'm loving the new CD What a fitting title for someone who's been through it, "Human" i can relate in so many ways we are all Human at the end of the day. I commend Brandy on yet another winning CD IMO.

What pisses me off about almost all of these soundstage performances that BET and Vh1 soul do, is they leave me with the thought...."How come you cant use the LIVE band on your album, instead of the wack-ass beats?" this is why most RB albums are frigging borefests, just use the damn band, can we get LIVE music back in RB? when did that become a radical friggin thought where 9 of 10 rb artists dont use LIVE musicians on their records.

Not a fan of R&B, Brandy, or any of her material any more, but Brandy's band is tight. No doubt. Producer beats can be kind of "clunky" and drag... The drummer's beat and the band's timing is straight and bumpin'.

Still.. Keeping session musicans out of the studio drives-down cost, and that keeps the main producer and The Majors Record Execs happy. The main producer doesn't want to lead the band, he can spend more time spreading his sound around to 17 more acts in one year. It had become boring to me, but I'm glad it did.

Less jobs = more $$$$ for The Wasters. They can buy more cars they will drive 20 times in their lifetime. Session musicians use to hold-up recording with personal issues, drug habits, etc... Technology, and the dumbing-down of the market with it, has helped the greedy ones in the industry.

The reason i cant buy into the whole cost of using musicians, is the fact that producers, most of them, charge just as much for beats. The reason for the reliance on the producer is not cost, its the FEAR of doing something different, sad to say that actual live music on your reccord now in RB, is considered to "risky" or against what is wanted, very sad.
