Debarge on Soul Train singing "I Like it" and "All This Love"

EL had written "All This Love", for Marvin Gaye to sing. By the time they had he had finished writing the song, Marvin had left the label leaving El, to record it himself.

I like these songs but both performances were lip synced and no extras (dancing)

Oh I can. Marvin would have don't a great job. If you listen to Marvin's "After the Dance", which El did with FourPlay, you can here the similarities.

I didn't know that Randy DeBarge sang 'I Like It'. I always thought that was El.

El does sing I like it-the bridge and the chorus and the high notes
Also, A few people on this board went to see el and family in chicago a few months ago and says he looked a lot better than in his mug shot

I can...I can hear Marvin KILLING it. Especially the riffs where he emphasizes "All my love" and the "wooh's".

Nah he didn't write that song for Marvin, btw the storie goes Marvin let his family send DeBarge albums to Belgium, when he was living there.

Never was a fan.
Yes, All This Love and Stay with Me are signature El tunes. There is a video of Chico singing Stay With Me and although the arrangements are nice and Chico can sing, he can't really do it justice. His voice is lower and rougher than El's.

Yes Randy is one of the lead vocals on I Like It, IMO Randy never got a chance to showcase his vocal because he has a nice vocal style i like, also he kills it on BASS, totally AWESOME!

I beg to differ,he has said so on many occassions. Below is an excerpt from a from an old Rolling Stone article about the group.

In 1982, having released one album that didn't go anywhere, DeBarge went into recording their follow-up with their own songs, chiefly handled by El DeBarge, who was also the main lead singer and focal point of the group, including the song, "All This Love", in which DeBarge sung in a high tenor and had written it in a year earlier in hopes then-label mate and longtime idol Marvin Gaye would record it. Gaye had served as El's inspiration for the song, hinted in the group's harmonizing in the final part of the song, which was similar to Gaye's "I Want You" vocal style period. By the following year, Gaye had left the label and DeBarge ended up recording it themselves. Producing this song with Berry Gordy's niece Iris, the single was issued as the third release from All This Love.
