Jackson Five 'to reunite for new tour'

SYDNEY (AFP) - The Jackson Five, the group that launched the career of pop superstar Michael Jackson, are planning to reunite for a world tour next year, his older brother said, according to Australian media Wednesday.

Jermaine Jackson said his siblings, including Michael and Janet, were on board as he attended a pay TV launch in Sydney Wednesday, the national AAP news agency reported.

"This has been a long time coming for the Jackson family to get back together," Jermaine Jackson told AAP.

"It is just the timing, so what we've been doing is working on the music and all the logistics."

Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael last toured together in 1984 as The Jacksons -- with six members, including Randy Jackson -- having originally formed the Jackson Five in 1965.

The group stopped touring together as Michael and Janet became international music superstars on their own, and the Jackson Five formally disbanded in 1990.

"It is going to be more like a family affair, Janet's going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5 ... Michael, Randy and the whole family ... we're in the studio, we're planning on being out there next year," Jermaine was quoted by AAP as saying.

Jermaine was the guest of honour at the Multi Channel Network's 2009 launch to advertisers in Sydney. Other guests included US actor Jenna Elfman, Sarah Murdoch and Olympian Ian Thorpe.

Heard about it. It's like time number six million that he announced it though in ten years. Who can take it seriously still?

The Victory tour was a kinda superfluous addition to the "Thriller tour," now it would be completely pointless.

Are they gonna put their hands on each others shoulders & move their heads forward & backward? Who cares? They're rehashing shit that was already old in 1985.

lol

But it would be interesting to see 50-year-old men still doing it though. What do we call them now?

I mean I've called New Kids Old Grandpas on the Block, might as well call them The Jackson Five Geezers + One. lol

I wish some interviewer would cut Jermaine off mid-flow and ask him which studio he's been in recently with his brothers. lying, greasy-faced fool he is.

Much as Michael being lazy does my head in, his brothers take the cake, no wonder Michael dumped them, the rest of the Jackson brothers really are pretty much useless. Wasn't always the case but they had their ten year run, and that's where it ended for me. 1980. confused

The sad part about Jermaine is that he has a catalog of great songs and could be playing small/medium venues and making a killing. He could also still be recording if he wasn't so dependent on Mike and Janet at this point in his career.

He is in a dreamworld, but Janet would definitely be 2nd billing to Mike....but not 2 Jermaine.

nod And reading his reasons a while back for not having employment and therefore not being able to pay child support were so ridiculous. Like working at any level lower than a full scale stadium tour would "lower his market value" or something.

If you're a singer, just sing! If you're not, McDonalds is hiring. You've got kids!

SYDNEY -- The Jackson 5 will reunite in 2009, eldest brother Jermaine Jackson confirmed Wednesday at a TV industry function here.

Jackson is in Australia to help launch a new "greatest hits" TV channel for paynet Foxtel and confirmed the rumors at the event.

"This has been a long time coming for the Jackson family to get back together," he told the Australian Associated Press.

"It is just the timing, so what we've been doing is working on the music and all the logistics. It is going to be more like a family affair, Janet's going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5 ... Michael, Randy and the whole family. ... It's sad, isn't it? This guy has a decent collection. Why he's chicken to promote it? Because he's waiting on his little brother to reunite on a Jacksons tour? lol

I'm sorry...how does Janet play into this? She's got her own problems....quit reminding people she is a Jackson!

At this point, she'd probably rather do a tour with Joe, Randy (or American Idol) and Freddie Jackson.

Why not wait? One just one jackson 5 worldtour will bring him more money than 10 solo-tours in small venues
