I love her debut album and I played it to death.Songs like "Another Sad Love Song","Breathe Again" and "Seven Whole Days" were KICKASS slow jams back in 93-94.I also liked a few tracks from her second album, especially the Babyface-produced "There's No Me Without You",which should have been a single.

But,I lost interest in Toni with her last CD 'The Heat'.Her songs are now run-of-the-mill R&B songs, with a bunch of samples and other annoying hip-hop elements.Toni is a wonderful singer but like most of today's R&B artists, she is stuck with trendy,second-rate material by uninspired producers and songwriters. Her new single "Hit The Freeway" is mediocre at best.

She appears on the cover of the new issue of Vibe and in the article, she seems VERY pissed at her record label and at the music business in general. She has seen everything show business has to offer, and she's not impressed.I get the feeling that, like Anita Baker, she may just give it all up someday.

I too loved her first album. Seven Whole Days, How Many Ways, Spending My Time w/ You & I Belong to You were my favorites, I used to play that thing all the time.

Second album was cool. I really liked You're Makin' Me High, Talkin' in His Sleep, Find Me A Man & I Love Me Some Him.

Haven't picked up anything since & won't unless I hear something worthy of my $. I hope the new album is good though, I'd love to hear something great from her...
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

HER 1ST CD WAS HOT BUT IT DOES SEEMS THAT NOW SHE IS JUST FOLLOWING TRENDS SUCH AS THE SAMPLES SHE'S USING AND PRODUCERS SUCH AS IRV GOTTI. I THINK SHE CAN DO BETTER!!!

Exactly! One thing that annoys me about today's R&B artists is that, the moment a "hot" producer comes along, everybody wants to work with them.Right now,Irv Gotti (Murder Inc.) is the one they're all rushing to work with.As a result, everything in R&B sounds the same. For once, why don't these artists take a chance on an UNKNOWN,cutting-edge producer?

I love her look and voice but her choice of material is getting a bit weak...she doesn't do the hip hop soul thing very well and should leave that to Mary J. I always thought the sultry sexy songs by Toni were the best.

Davideye, Anita has not quit as far as I know. This is a copy- and-paste post of mine from earlier this detailing for happened with Anita a couple of years ago.

Anita Baker actually had an album complete a couple of years ago. However tape equipments she rented from Zomba Recording Company was defective and it messed up her studio tapes from the recording sessions. She filed a $200,000 law suit against the company. She said she paid out a total of $500,000 for the tape equipment, to hire musicians, producers and songwriters. That's the last I heard about her. She was planning to go back and rerecord the album over again using her same personnel.

dug Her Debut Album. She has gotten Pimped by the Industry.while Selling a Ton of Records She doesn't have much Say overall with What gets placed on Her Albums.it's not all on Her.The Labels Set things up&if you want Air-Play&Promotion you either go along or you are tossed too the sidelines.from Her 2nd Album onward She has been pushed at working with whomever. Her Husband Kerri Lewis is a Badd Musician&Babyface could bring stuff&Toni Plays Piano&writes.those three should be able to make a Album from start too finish but the Record Companys don't operate like that.

I loved her first two albums, practically wore out the first one, but when her focused moved from her voice and the music to her looks and going practically butt nekkid, then I couldn't take her seriously anymore. She didn't need to go there to sell more albums or get the attention. The uniqueness of her voice was doing her justice. So I lost interest, altho I did end up buying The Heat, and it wasn't that bad, but I don't get excited hearing her songs anymore. More than likely I will not be buying her latest cd.
