Labelle's new disc in three decades--Back to Now--in stores today!

It's good to see Patti and the girls together again. Never been a big Patti Labelle fan or anything, but how do you all feel about their new album? I heard the new tracks, "Roll Out" and "Candlelight" and I was a little excited (even though "Roll Out" really didn't impress me one bit.) Anyone buying this one?

The cover is very daring imo. I'm gonna check it out. I only now Lady Marmalade...nice to see that they escaped the "covers album" plague that old acts are forced to do like Cyndi Lauper

What's wrong with it?

There ain't nothing wrong about mature woman dressing up
as a group of hungry vultures on the cover of their first album in 30 years.

It just looks kinda silly.

maybe it's the prejudice you have against old people that makes us react that way...ageism, my friend.

Well, I finished listening to it and I only really like Candlelight and The Truth Wil Set You Free. Too many ballads. Don't think I'll be purchasing.

hmmm I'll definitely have to hear this CD before I spend my money on it.I'm not too thrilled that Lenny Kravitiz produced some of it.

I like the cover because it's a nod to their past.

I agree.I just listened to the whole album and it's disappointing.I was expecting some gritty,70s-styled funk...reminiscent of their heyday. There are a few good songs, but not enough to make me buy this CD confused

well though i'm not a fan of the awful album cover...looks almost photoshopped to me, I did hear snippets of the album on the Steve Harvey Radio Morning show this morning. The only song I liked was the one that Lenny Kravitz produced. The other songs sounded like a bunch of "older" women who could still sing but needed some extra cash by doing this project. lol
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Okay, I finally got an answer to my question and more.

*Three decades after the release of their last album, the formidable group Labelle (Sarah Dash, Nona Hendryx and Patti LaBelle) returns in full form with 'Back To Now' (Oct 21, Verve).

The anticipated new full-length album is well worth the thirty-year wait for loyal and new fans alike, featuring original songs with the vocal firepower, lush harmonies, sassy lyrics, and funky melodies true to Labelle's genre-defying legacy.

From the politically tinged "System," to the potent "Tears For The World," to the soaring ballad and ode to the group's own re-ignition "Without You," Labelle's new music shimmers as brightly as ever. Working with different producers gives 'Back to Now' the rich variety one expects from Labelle, and a contemporary feel that resonates with both a new generation of fans, and those who fell in love with the trio during the "Lady Marmalade"-era.

Wyclef Jean brings infectious dance music to "Roll Out," Lenny Kravitz injects a retro funk sound to "Candlelight," while the Masters of Philly Soul Kenneth Gamble & Leon A. Huff leave their mark on four of the album's most riveting tracks.

Like Labelle's chart-toping 1974 album 'Nightbirds,' Hendryx had a heavy hand in writing the songs for this album, which convey messages of empowerment and passion.

'BACK TO NOW' TRACKLIST:
1. Candlelight (Nona Hendryx) Producer: Lenny Kravitz
2. Rollout featuring Wyclef Jean (Listen now by clicking here.)
(Wyclef Jean, Jerry Duplessis, Nona Hendryx, Patti LaBelle, Sarah Dash) Producer: Wyclef Jean & Jerry 'Wonda; Duplessis
3. Superlover (Nona Hendryx, Camus Celli, Patti LaBelle, Sarah Dash) Producer: Lenny Kravitz
4. System (Nona Hendryx) Producer: Lenny Kravitz
5. The Truth Will Set You Free (Borden, Keck, Moore, Murdock, Kennedy, Seay) Producer: Kenneth Gamble
6. Without You in My Life (Nona Hendryx, Kenneth Gamble, Patti LaBelle, Sarah Dash) Producer: Kenneth Gamble
7. Tears for the World (Kenneth Gamble, Leon A. Huff, Patti LaBelle) Producer: Kenneth Gamble & Leon A Huff
8. Dear Rosa (Roni Morgan, Michael Waters, Nona Hendryx) Producer: Nona Hendryx
9. How Long (Nona Hendryx, Patti LaBelle, Sarah Dash) Producer: Kenneth Gamble
10. Miss Otis Regrets (Cole Porter) Producer: Kit Lambert

The album encore is the epic live recording of a Cole Porter-written song 'Miss Otis Regrets,' produced by Kit Lambert for Track Records in 1970 with pianist Nicky Hopkins and The Who's inimitable drummer Keith Moon. Pulled from the vault, this is the first time this heartbreaking song is available on CD.

From their formation in 1961 at the dawn of the girl-group era, through their pioneering years fusing rock, soul, and funk, Labelle's innovation has set them apart in a genre all their own. Opening up for rock icons such as The Who and the Rolling Stones, the group continually pushed gender boundaries in music of black origin as they revolutionized the roles women played in R&B, rock 'n' roll, and even fashion.
