VH1s hip hop countdown

Did anyone watch this? They picked Public Enemy for the number one hip hop group of all time. I liked the fact that they mixed 80s and 90s tunes, that was good. 80s hip hop was so much better than what they put out now, would you agree? I luv me some Queen Latifah

The list is symbolic of hip-hop as it is today. Many classics noted, many more missed. Any list that mentions "all time" in the context of L'Trimm, Mase and Chamillionaire teeters on fraudulence. But it contained a few pleasant surprises.

87 Jungle Brothers "What U Waiting For"

85 Black Star - "Definition"

82 Chubb Rock - "Treat 'Em Right"

65 Spoonie Gee and The Treacherous Three - "Love Rap"

64 The Roots - "What they Do"

59 Ol' Dirty Bastard - "Shimmy Shimmy Ya"

48 Nas - "One Love"

41 Funky 4 + 1 - "That's the Joint"

Hope it was more fitting than their Top 25 Female MCs list.

It was really good and reminded me of some music that I haven't heard in years, some even 20 years back. I really like it.

Yeah I thought it was good too, very interesting. It took me way back to when I was a kid and remembering hearing those songs on the radio...Like NWA "straight outta Compton" and MC Hammer and Tone Loc...lol
